Didi was back in the shop today, and fussing with the end-of-aisle displays in an effort to get them just so.

Her personal taste in just so lead to some overcrowded displays, full of Disney artifacts, chocolate, and floppy hats, but at least she was keeping herself busy and happy

Scully was... almost convinced that it was 2010 here on the island. If it was, well, then technology had to have advanced a decade. Right?

...right. She'd be over here, boggling at the computers and iPhones, and seriously coveting a Netbook.

Didi gave a slight smile to the short, redheaded girl. "You look like a woman in need of something new and shiny."

Scully looked up, rueful expression feeling like it was going to take up permanent residence. "That obvious, hunh?" She gestured almost helplessly at the computer section and said, "Ten years' gap. I guess. And my laptop was top of the line, but now? Look at all this. I don't even know where to start." It was dismaying! And unfair! And that little Netbook came in red!

"I have a good eye for it," Didi told her. "I'm not really a techie, but I think you should try out the red netbook and see how it feels."

There were times when knowing everyone really well helped her do her job. This might be one of them.

"Really," Scully said, reassured. She reached out for it, ran a finger along the edge, and reached for the mouse. "Can it do WiFi?" Which hadn't even been available when she left, outside of a few campus networks.

"Ooooo." She flashed Didi a nervous but happy smile. "You think?"

Didi leaned over to peer at the sticker on the netbook. "Yes. It absolutely does WiFi. And yes, I think."

Scully took a breath. "Why not?" She can write her own personal ponderings on it, and use it for e-mail, and it'll be her secret, if anyone comes looking for evidence of what she's been doing while on leave. "I'm Scully. Thanks." She gave the wall of computer advances a speculative look, and said, "Anything else you'd recommend?"

"Maybe a wardrobe update?" Didi offered.

... run, Dana. Unless you like black.

Dana gave Didi a look of bewilderment, and said, "It's jeans and a T-shirt." Nineties jeans. And a T-shirt that had a logo for Lilith Fair. But c'mon!
