After spending some time at the picnic, Jaina went to work, feeling pretty good considering there didn't seem to be any new relatives in this bunch. And to think, if this turned out to be her last picnic, she might never have to have that worry againShe almost didn't know what to do with herself at that thought

Yeah, there was a picnic and all, but picnics weren't really Mick's thing. Plus it was amazing enough that he'd actually realised it was Saturday. He figured he was doing well to have made it to Fandom on the right day, and that deserved a reward.

He grinned and tipped his hat at the sheila behind the bar. "G'day, luv. Grab us a beer, will ya?"

Jaina hadn't spent as much time in Australia as she would have liked, due to trauma at the time, but she'd been there long enough to recognize the accent. "I can do that," she said, going to get the beer. "Let me guess where you're from."

"Go on then," he replied with another grin. "See if you can figure it out."

"I'm going to go with Australia," she said. And if not, oops.

"Got it in one," he said, with a quick nod of his head. "Went walkabout in New York for a bit, but Australia's home, little place called Walkabout Creek up in the Territory."

"I don't know it specifically," she admitted, passing him his drink. "Are you one of the teachers?"

"Yeah, can you believe they let me teach?" He laughed. "Gonna be giving the ankle-biters a quick run down on surviving in Australia. It's not within a cooee of my usual lark, but I figure I'll give it a fair suck of the sav, see how it turns out."

"When I was there we kept getting attacked by all things poisonous," Jaina remembered. "I think your class is very necessary."

"Too right. Funnel web spiders'll kill you dead in eight seconds flat, just by looking at you." It was only a slight exaggeration. "Mick 'Crocodile' Dundee at your service." He tipped his hat to her again. "Call me Mick."

"Jaina Solo. I have no nickname." Well, she did, but not any she touted around here. "I'm sure I could last longer than eight seconds."Maybe ten.

"Good to meet you, Jaina." He gave her a quick once-over, then grinned. "Tough looking sheila like you? Reckon you might make it as long as twenty. Whereabouts'd you go when you were in Oz?"

Okay, she liked him. He kind of reminded her of someone her dad would have been friends with all this time. "I'm not really sure, honestly. I came back when we were already there, and didn't get to go out too much, and then the poisonous things invaded and we left."

It made total sense if you were around back in the day!

"Sounds like a corker of a trip!" he said, sounding impressed even if he'd only followed about half of what she'd said. But hey, you went to the Outback and survived, and you'd usually impress Mick. "You ever make your way back there, look us up. Everyone in Walkabout Creek knows Mick Dundee."

"I'm only around for the summer," she said, and she didn't even know if it'd be that long, "but who knows, I might end up there again."

"Probably will," he predicted. "Place gets under your skin and calls you back. End of summer I'm heading back to the big smoke, my sheila lives there, but we'll be back in Oz soon enough."
