Jaina was finally back at work today, even despite being back on Adrian duty for the weekend. She made sure to have her phone on her just in case, and got to work.

The working part would have been easier if Tino wasn't trying to get her to play I Never. Apparently someone was just that bored.

Sometimes Chuck just wanted to hang out at the job where the people weren't complete asshats. Yes, Bass Inc. was full of asshats. Chuck didn't know what his father was thinking when he hired them.

"Hello, faithful employees," Chuck said when he came in. "And Tino."

"Decided to check up on us tonight, huh?" Jaina asked, once again pushing away the drink Tino tried to pass her.

"Well I'd be a terrible boss if I didn't attempt to make a monthly appearance," Chuck said, eyeing Tino as he sat down at the bar. "What, is he trying to make you drink something gross?"

"He's been wanting to play drinking games when I shouldn't be drinking today," she explained. "I guess it's not good enough if I stick with Coke."

"Why shouldn't you be drinking today? That's half the fun of working at a bar," he said. "I'd like a scotch, by the way."

Getting that together for him, she explained, "When Rose and Dimitri are out of town, I get vampire babysitting duty. Which means I get to be sober till they get back, because at least one of us has to be."

"Vampires need babysitters?" Chuck asked, looking amused. "You learn something new every day."

"This one does," she shrugged, passing him his drink. "That's what you pay me for: drinks and information you didn't need to know."

"And you do your job so well," he said before taking a sip of his drink. "Thanks."

"With that line, I feel like I should ask for a raise," she said. She was teasing. Probably.

Chuck smirked at her. "If I gave you a raise then I'd have to give everyone a raise and, lets face it, they're all not as deserving as you."

"Fairness is never a copout," Chuck said with far more innocence than he should ever be able to muster. "But you'll be pleased to learn that I'm an excellent tipper."
