Jennifer was more than happy to settle back into work after a week off. Filing done, she took to doing more basic legal research of her own. But what she used to do just fine, getting lost in a big old book of law, the same action now made her a bit antsy. Like she should be doing something bigger, grander

So, Ino hadn't talked to Jen in a while. And there was some weirdness and stuff but if anyone thought that'd it stop her from carrying on a conversation?

Pffft, dream on.

"Sis!" Ino carolled, bouncing in with two hot chocolates. "I come bearing drinks."

"Awww, thanks," Jennifer said, smiling. She put in her bookmark and shut the volume of Tort Law she was browsing. She stood up. "At least, assuming one is for me. For all I know, you're a two-fister."

"I can be," she confessed, offering her one. "But then I'd get a stomach ache and that'd be no fun at all."

"Thank you," Jennifer said, taking the cup. "And self-induced stomach aches are always a bad idea. Unless you're trying to get an excuse out of a day of school or something." She chuckled. "How are you, sis?"

"Please," Ino said, laughing. "If I really wanted to take a day off work I've got more elegant ways than getting a stomach ache."

A beat.

"And pretty good! Got my shift at the clinic moved to Mondays so now I get four days off in a row!"

"Slacker," Jennifer teased, taking a sip. "Were you on the spring break trip? I don't think I saw you around."

[flowering_mind]

"I was," she said, wrinkling her nose at the teasing. Cheerfully, cheerfully! "I'm glad it's over!"

Ino was special that way.

"I didn't see you either--who'd you room with and what'd you do and all of that?"

"Well, if you were looking for the green girl, you were looking the wrong way," Jennifer admitted. "I was rooming with Proto. He was a pretty good guy, actually. Very... stoic, I guess the word would be."

"I don't think I've met him," she said, sipping at her drink. "But it's good that you got along with him--would kinda suck if you hadn't, don't you think?"

"No kidding," Jennifer said. "Imagine being stuck with a roommate you didn't like. You'd end up having to... sleep on the beach or something."

"Oh please," Ino laughed, "or room with another friend. Those rooms were totally big enough for three people easy."

"Yeah, no kidding," Jennifer said. "I ever go on a honeymoon, we're going to a hotel like that." She plopped down in her chair and gestured for Ino to sit as well. "Or someplace similar. You'd want to go somewhere new, I'd think."

"So it's all peace and relaxation for your honeymoon?" Ino teased, perching on the desk rather than in a chair. "I'd like to go some place exciting if I got married. Monster hunting and such!"

"You and your monster hunting," Jennifer said, a wry smile on her face. "Though I guess it depends on who you marry. Some people are more suited for that sort of honeymoon than others."

"Monster hunting is fun!" she protested. "The beach is nice for, like, a few days? But monster hunting is always fun."

A beat.

"And I don't plan to marry anyone for a long time anyway."

"Me either," Jennifer said. "That's way long off. And by that time, well... who knows. Superhero, maybe? The big strong type, that's for sure."
