She's got a couple of stakes and knives with her at the desk, so don't sneak up on her like Gunther did.

Walking through the front door totally wasn't sneaking up, right? Because that's what Joan did. She had some errands to run in town and knew Hoshi usually worked on Thursdays.

Walking in the front door wasn't sneaking, especially when Porthos had the door in view from his doggie bed. He gave a couple of warning barks but wagged his tail, giving Hoshi enough warning that the visitor was friendly.

"Hey Joan," said Hoshi, trying to smile even though she felt really tense. "Are you sure it's safe to go outside by yourself?"

Joan nodded. "She did. But that was at night. And besides, Professor Skywalker is going to talk care of it."

Hoshi still appeared a bit hesitant, but she nodded. "So I shouldn't be worried as long as I get back to the dorms before dark?" she asked.

"I think you'll be fine if you're not out alone after dark," Joan said. "If you want, I'm sure that I could come walk back with you. Maybe with Jen or Ellie so no one is alone."

"Safety in numbers," said Hoshi. "That seems like a good idea."

She was still keeping a stake in her bag, just in case. Hoshi had faith in Professor Skywalker's abilities to deal with the problem, but she'd feel better if she had a weapon.
