Cafe Fina - Wednesday, 02/03

Feb 03, 2010 16:36

Liir had a few things on his mind, not the least of which was going to see his 'little sibling'. That was why he was doing his best at the cafe but really, his heart wasn't quite in it. Then again, he wasn't aware of a certain piece of information that might brighten his day...

Lulu was looking forward to this particular visit. She could only hope that the dishes hadn't told Liir about Fina's acquisition.

And also that he hadn't been listening to radio the past week.

"Table for one?" she asked, as the door closed behind her.

[Will be slow as I've got a big bang due on Friday, but I needed to ping her in! :D ]

Not a word from them, not a peep.

"Certainly, mi---MISS LULU!"

Liir nearly dropped the bowl of soup that he'd been transporting from one counter to another and then, once it was on the second counter, nearly dropped himself. Then it was merely matter of rushing towards her for a hug.

"Miss Lulu, what are you doing here?"

Though it was said with the utmost affection, of course. He wanted her here!

Yup, that was the Liir she'd missed!

"Apparently," she explained, "I'm buying a restaurant. This one, in fact."

Cue spaz-flail on the part of Liir in 3... 2...

His eyes lit up, greener than green, and he nearly levitated on the spot. He was working for Miss Lulu? Catch him, he might swoon. As self-centered as it was (and really, for a helpful boy, he could be terribly ego-centric) the earlier upset was completely forgotten in the face of his excitement.

"And that is the finest news I've heard in a Dog's age," he told her, bouncing on his heels.

He didn't question. Usually when Miss Lulu said such a thing, she meant it.

"I can see that you're terribly heartbroken at having me for an employer," Lulu said, laughing. "You enjoy working here, do you?"

"Of course!" he told her, lifting his head an inch and a half, "You were one of the first people I told when I got the position. Does this mean you've returned to the island?"

Lulu nodded. "Rather unexpectedly, actually; I was in town for the carnival, and then this happened... It's been rather busy, actually, getting everything in order, I've barely had time to see anyone."

Read: I'm sorry I didn't call you. But also I wanted to surprise you.

"Is there anything you don't like about working here? Do you wish to change to another day, or do you have any concerns with the dishes?"

He shook his head firmly.

"Everything is just fine for me, Miss Lulu. Better than fine. Grander and grander, really."

Read: You've made the kid's fricking MONTH.

Read: Well. One does try.

"That's perfect, then," Lulu said, grinning. "And we can spend some time together in the kitchen, yes? I have several ideas-- I might make some changes to the menu; I would appreciate your input."

Do you see what you've done, Lulu? You've taken a perfectly good wastrel and turned him into this near-psychotically organized, well oiled cooking machine who enjoys nothing more than a job well done and satisfying customers. And now here you are, returning to reap the fruits of your transgressions...

We hope you're happy, Lulu. We hope you're happy.

Liir's chest puffed up just a touch and he smiled broadly.

"I'd be happy to help. You know where to find me."

"Every Wednesday," Lulu said, "right here. And I'm very glad of that."

Please. Lulu was nothing more than some sand and wind, sun and rain, polishing smooth the surface of the gemstone. Everything Liir was had been there before she came along.

Of course, but the polishing is what makes it a gemstone.

"And I can come in other days if you need the help," he said quickly.

Lulu nodded. "I suspect we'll be mostly fine, but I may take you up on that," she said. "And of course you are welcome any time, whether you're working or not."

"What day will you be here?" he asked, obviously interested in the last. He'd missed her, horribly.

"I'm taking over the Sunday shift," Lulu said. "And I'll be living in the apartment upstairs, too, as soon as it's renovated."
