Chilly Boulder, Friday evening

It was freezing out, but that was no reason to rule out an ice cream date. It was, however, an excellent reason to skip walking and teleport to town. "I have never been here before," Raven said, looking around the ice cream shop after they appeared there, "but I have had ice cream since I came here. I like it."

"Good because I don't think I'd trust someone who didn't like ice cream," Andy told her with a smile. "What kind did you have?"

"Chocolate," Raven said, smiling. "I am told that is the best flavor. Or is it?"

"That's probably the one that most people would pick, yeah. I like best to mix it all up though -- get lots of flavors and lots of toppings."

"There are so many flavors, I do not know what to choose," Raven said, looking up at all the options. She glanced shyly at Andy. "Will you pick one for me?"

"How about we get one big concoction with two spoons?" Andy suggested, looking over the menu with a discerning eye.

"Oh, that sounds delightful," Raven said. "We can try several different flavors that way."

"Great!" Andy stepped up to the counter and proceeded to order a complicated sundae that seemed to include about a third the flavors offered and half the toppings. Then he turned back to Raven. "That's probably going to take a few minutes for them to make."

"Should we sit down to wait then?" Raven said, gesturing to a table.

"Sure!" He led the way over, started to sit down, then stopped and held out a chair for Raven.

Raven blushed a little as she sat down. "Thank you," she said. When Andy had sat down, she added, "I was very glad to hear that you were not on the island last weekend. I would not have liked to see you hurt."

"I wouldn't want to see me hurt either," Andy agreed. "Or you. Or, well, anyone I know, really. I just don't like to see people get hurt."

"I was not physically harmed at all," Raven told him. "I spent most of the time in Caritas helping to heal people who had been scratched or bitten. Those gremlins were very unlike the ones we are used to here."

"So it sounds. I like the gremlins we have around here. I mean even when they do bite people, it's just embarrassing."

Raven nodded. "I am not fond of the threat of losing control, but acting silly is better than the destruction and violence those other gremlins craved." She couldn't help but shudder.

"I'll have to introduce you to Gus," Andy decided. "He'll totally win you over." He looked up and grinned as one of the Boulder workers brought over a huge dish overly filled with ice cream and toppings. "Oh man, that looks awesome!"

"I would like that, yes," Raven said, her smile returning. Her eyes grew big as she took in all the ice cream. "Can we eat all that?"
