Magic Box, Thursday, 1/21

The fashion show was over, and Tara was especially grateful for that as she got to the shop and set things out for the day. She had 11 more weeks of modeling class, which wasn't really that many; she just hoped none in the future would be about Lady Gaga ( Read more... )

Kennedy usually came by to visit every week, that was true. And hey, she'd been here last week, just, y'know, tiny and not very human-like. That was a week of training she'd missed, which she was rather singlemindedly trying to make up for now (that and the pie), so while she wasn't actually coming into the store, she kept jogging past and trying to wave on her way by. Because she was so much more of a dork than she thought and was doing laps around the neighborhood instead of the entire island.

She'd get tired eventually.

The first time, Tara didn't even notice Kennedy.

The second time, she glanced up, grinned, and waved back.

The third time, she leaned out the doorway and hollered, "How many more are you going to do?"

"Don't know!" Kennedy started jogging backwards, then in place when she reached the doorway and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "I thought I'd keep it up until I couldn't take it any more."

It had been really hard to burn off a lot of restless energy with four wee paws, okay?

Tara laughed and shook her head in amusement. "Okay, well, don't fall over in the street or anything. I don't want you to get hit by a rickshaw."

Kennedy definitely seemed to have energy to burn, so she wouldn't keep her long.

Kennedy held a hand up and grinned. "Promise, no getting smushed. I'm me again; I don't wanna end up roadkill now. But hi. You look like you're in a good mood."

"Good," Tara returned. "I don't want you to be flat. And yeah, I am! Fashion show wasn't too horrible" -- by diminished standards -- "and tonight's Merlin's birthday thing. Were you gonna go?"

"I was thinking about it," Kennedy said, frowning slightly about missing the fashion show. "Sure, I don't see why not. Party's a party. Any pictures of you on the runway? I'd have checked it out, except there was this thing with the weight room..."

"Don't worry about it," said Tara, who was very glad to have done the show with a minimal audience. "I -- don't think there are photos?"

And she hoped not.

"It was weird. We walked with fake Gremlins from the Danger Shop."

"Okay, trippy." Kennedy was still running in place, which didn't diminish her ability to look appropriately boggled at the mental image. "No fake-bites, right?"

She might have been checking Tara over for that. Or just checking her out.

"No, but they were dressed like Lady Gaga," Tara said. Noticing the checking out, she looked down at herself. "...okay, is there something on my sweater?"

"Nope." And yet, Kennedy sounded awfully pleased, despite the fact that she was probably going to have freaktastic gremlin-related dreams tonight. "Just looking."

Tara went bright pink but couldn't hide the smile that spread across her face. Kennedy looked at her that way. Insignificant, weird, little Tara.

... maybe there was something more there.

Well, yeah. Kennedy caught the blushing, and grinned even more broadly. She'd always prided herself on being able to get girls to blush, but this was less a matter of self-congratulation and more a genuine... she wasn't sure what, exactly, but it made her stomach do weird little loopy things. Wow. She was turning into such a mushball.

"I should get back to actually running," she said after a moment, a little regretful about it. "I'll see you tonight, though?"

Tara's stomach was all loopy too, so Kennedy's was in good company.

"I have work to do anyhow. See you tonight," she agreed, and leaned forward to try to kiss her while she was still running. "'Bye."

Kennedy gave her a quick kiss (she was all sweaty, and ick) before pulling back.

"Can't make you be a slacker or anything. See you tonight, babe," she promised, and started off on yet another lap.
