The Reyes-Wilhern Wedding, The Church, Saturday Evening [12/5]

Dec 05, 2009 18:34

It was to be an extravagant affair, with a mariachi band performing the music. Father Ned, of course, had his services hired to perform the actual ceremony. It may have been a rush arrangement, but it had to be. Hugo Reyes needed to marry his blushing bride before she was fully aware of his international playboy reputation, not to mention a few of ( Read more... )

For the two who know who they are. They shall speak now, and never hold their peace.

Joan stood from her spot in the back of the church at Father Ned's question. She didn't know why God had instructed her to do this, but she didn't question His orders.

"I object," she said, her voice halting.

Hoshi stood up, too, but she sounded a lot more confident than her twin sister. "I object as well," she said, giving Hurley a wicked look. "The groom can't marry that woman -- not when I'm the one having his baby."

"Oh dear," Ned said, stepping back to get out of the way of any potential throwdowns.

A bewildered Penelope looked from those two street walkers to Hurley. "Hurley?"

Hurley stared, distraught.

"...que?" he said.

Oh no. Her evil whore of a twin sister had let this man violate her sacred temple. And now she was ruining his wedding to her dear, chaste, pure friend, Penelope. Clearly this was why God wanted her to stop the wedding but she hadn't noticed Hoshi enter the church.

"My sister is ill, please forgive her," Joan tried.

"Oh, stop being such a goody two-shoes, Joan," said Hoshi. "I don't intend to ask for anyone's forgiveness. Really, Penelope, who did you think Hurley turned to for comfort when you weren't there for him?" She grinned and patted her tummy.

Her perfect complexion fused with color as she timidly looked out at the one who spoke to her in such a sinful manner. "But I... I wanted to remain pure for the man I love."

Tears filled her eyes and that woeful gaze turned to the man she was supposed to marry. Her love for all time.

"Tell me she is lying? Hurley?"

"A... man has needs," Hurley said, unable to cover this up. "But I promise, it will only be you if we finish this marriage!"

"Oh, Penelope, no," Joan wailed. "Do not sully yourself with a man like this. A man who will lie with whores like my sister. You are too pure, too good, too beautiful."

Too beautiful? Um... Joan wasn't sure what that had to do with anything.

"Aw, think of all the fun it would be, Penelope," said Hoshi, sneering. "All those holiday dinners with you, me, Hurley and our baby. I'm happy to share him with you."

"I like that option, can we take that option?" Hurley said. "I think that would work for me... Hugo Reyes."

Tears fell freely down her cheeks and she tried to peer at Joan through the wet bleariness. Her heart was literally breaking in two and her perfect little world was spinning wildly out of control.

"No. No. This can't be happening. I was to have a husband, a white picket fence; a little poodle and matching clothes. I was going to have roses..."

Wait. Besides the husband, she had all of that now.

"Do not speak to me you man-seducer!" she exclaimed, pointing a finger at Hoshi. "You filthy filthy creature! As for you," accusing eyes turned to Hurley. "I thought you loved me enough to wait until we were tied properly in the eyes of God and country? How could you betray my trust, my love, my... my body in such a sinful manner?"

"How?"

Hurley tried to look innocent.

"I am... Hugo Reyes."

There was no guitar riff.

Hurley cleared his throat, and the guitarist quickly played the riff.

"I suppose we cannot... finish this marriage now? I still love you, It was just one night. I promise!"

Everything was slipping away, blast!

"Just one night and I had been willing to give you all of me for all eternity. You are a terrible human being! Yet... I cannot help the love I feel for you still. Even after you soiled your body with a wicked woman."

Dramatic sigh. More tears.

"I'm going to have to learn to hate you now! And I... and I... and I hate you for that!" With that, she grabbed her lovely satin gown in hand and fled from the chapel.
