The tents were up, the tables were set, the drinks were here, the posters were up, and the food was being prepared.

Liir, of course, had put out a rather nice little spread of assorted cakes and pies and whatnot. There were hazelnut chocolate cookies (don't ask the name if you don't want to know), french walnut cake, carrot pineapple cake, and many varieties of miniature pies. He'd also put out summer ice and his rather well known brownies.

And muffins. Considering who the benefit was for, it was necessary.

Everything was finally steaming along smoothly, so Sophie had a moment to indulge herself and obtain food for herself. "Thank you so much for helping, Liir. These look wonderful." And smelled even better. "Could you pick me out a few of those lovely little pies?"

Then he smiled.

"Apples, if you have them," Sophie said with a light smile. "I've always appreciated how your efforts have kept Geoffrey fed during rehearsals, too, and of course I love the muffins for myself. Hopefully this will help improve the safety of the Boards to where we could actually pay you for some of your work."

"Only if Mr. Tennant can afford it," he said as he assembled a few of the baked goods into a little box for her to take.

"I don't mind helping him, considering."

Sophie's long-range plans for Geoffrey, ones she hardly articulated to herself never mind him, did include being able to live somewhere other than a closet, eating food that wasn't two days old. Someday. Hopefully before Liir graduated.

"I'm very glad." Sophie took a bite of one of the little pies, and closed her eyes in happy appreciation. "Lovely. Oh, I'm going to have to share these with Geoffrey."

Liir smirked, just a bit.

"I already snuck quite a few of the less presentable into the refrigerator at the theatre. I didn't want them to go to waste."

"You're brilliant," Sophie told him, highly pleased. "Odds are he won't even remember that he didn't buy them."

"He accept things from me because he respects that I'm paying a debt I feel I owe him. And because he was friends with my father. If there's anything you'd ever like me to slip in that he'd need, just let me know," he said as he handed her a little bag with some of the cookies.
