In case you need a more private moment.

But not that private. It's still the bloody public park, folks.

This would do. They could barely see the tent from this angle and hopefully no one else'd wander in this way.

"I talked to your noble yesterday," she said as she finally let go of George's sleeve.

He was still snickering from the compliment as she started speaking, but her words pulled him up quickly. "Oh aye?" he asked, glaring a little. "What'd she say tha's got ye riled up?"

It'd figure he'd take it as a compliment.

Her hands felt empty and one strayed to the baton that wasn't there. Instead she crossed her arms. "She's a lousy liar," she started.

"I know tha'!" George argued, eyes flickering to her baton hand and frowning more. "I told ye tha' t'other night!"

There had been a little tiny bit of him that sorta hoped she'd been upset at him kissin' Jean and Karla yesterday. Shhh, that was a part he wasn't paying attention to.

She'd been too caught up from her meeting to register who he'd kissed and even if she had... It'd not matter.

"You were right, but she wasn't lying about knowing you," Beka pointed out. "Even if you'd not yet met this instant."

You're not getting to the point, Pounce interrupted, brushing against the back of her legs. He'd not been there afore, but he'd not miss out on sommat this interesting.

"I know that too," George said, rolling his eyes. "None o' this is new, Beka. Wha' th' hell?"

"She's 200 years in my future!" Beka said sharply. She was angry and she didn't even understand half of why she was. "You made me believe you're from my time!"

Oh. So that's what she was pissed about.

"Y'believed what ye chose t'believe," he said, shrugging and trying to act nonchalant. "I didn' have nothin' t'do wit' it."

Her eyes flashed and they were every bit as cold as people told her they could be. "Twas what you wanted met to believe," she snapped. "You talk like you know, like you're just another cove who's heard of the Puppy that caught the Shadow Snake. You had plenty of time to correct me, but you never did."

George shrugged again. "Ye wouldn' have believed me."

"I'm a Dog, I'm not an idiot," she shot back. "Mayhap I'd have trouble at first, but I've heard enough stories here."

"I didn' call ye an idiot," George argued. "An' I don' think it neither. I never lied t'ye. I jus' didn' want t'be affectin' yer future or nothin'."

She drew in a breath, hating that he sort of made sense. "Because you've heard of me as well," she guessed. It made no sense to her that anyone'd know about a Dog so much later.

He rolled his eyes. Now she kinda was being an idiot.

"Of course I've heard of you," he said, heated enough to drop the accent. "Me mam has yer figure in her family shrine."

Mayhap she'd really been hoping he'd another explanation. This one'd make her head throb, once the numbness of the shock wore off. She was staring at him now, her nostrils flaring as she sucked in a breath.

Pounce chuckled in amusement. That does explain a lot, he spoke to them both now.
