With her father still in town for a bit, and a sort of...treaty was a really strong word, but peaceful agreement reached between them, Robin was in a good mood as she headed into work

"So far," she agreed, keeping her tone light. "So this is your esteemed guardian. I was beginning to think he was a figment of your imagination, Jack."

"If he were a figment, I'd come up with a better story," Jack said airily though with a great deal of affection. "I'll go get drinks and let you get acquainted."
Re: The Lounge [10/04]icecoldfrostOctober 5 2009, 02:39:31 UTC
...Right. Jack was leaving her alone, with a vampire. His vampire, true, but Emma remembered her time in the other-Fandom too well to be completely happy about the idea.
Still, she was a Frost. Small talk and social niceties were a part of her DNA.
"How are you finding the island so far?" she asked, giving him a winning smile. "I think I've seen glimpses of you once or twice, but there's so many people here this weekend, that it's impossible to catch-up with everyone as much as I'd like."

After waking up this morning in such a... compromising position, Morton had made hasty apologies and run away. But... he couldn't let it stand at that. The lady deserved a proper apology.
So he'd reached out, searching for the psychic scent he'd grown surprisingly familiar with, and found her in the bar.
He paused at the entrance to the lounge, trying to work up the courage to actually approach her.

Oh for the love of...
"I don't bite, Morton," she sighed, not even looking at him as she waved him over. "And it wasn't that compromising."
They'd fallen asleep while talking, and woken up curled up like puppies on the roof. It wasn't like she'd dragged him off to her room or anything horribly nefarious like that.

Morton took a deep breath and marched purposefully over to her. "Excuse me. I wish to apologize for my behavior last night." He inhaled in tht way that usually signaled someone preparing to say a whole lot of ridiculous nonsense.
He had been far too familiar with her. Even if she was Karla's friend. And even if she was smart and funny. And even if she was pretty. And smelled nice. And hadn't seemed to mind.

ARG. Sometimes, Emma really really hated what she knew of Karla's society.
...that wasn't going to stop her from attempting to manipulate him with it, no.
"Morton, sit," she ordered, pointing at one of the other couches firmly. "You did not take advantage of me. We were talking and fell asleep. It's no big deal."
"Taking advantage of me would imply that something untoward had gone on, and you were a perfect gentleman."

"I said I didn't like being surprised by strange boys, darling," she said, gentling her tone slightly as she trailed her mental fingertips along the edges of his memories. "Well, now we're friends, aren't we?"
Re: The Lounge [10/04]glacial_warlordOctober 5 2009, 03:32:04 UTC
Morton looked up at that, an expression something like hope flickering across his face. "I... I'd like to think so." He reached hesitantly toward her, just with his fingertips.

Hopefully some people-watching and liberal use of powers would cheer her up.

"You made it through the weekend," he said lightly. "Sebastien de Ulloa, this is Miss Emma Frost."

"It's an honor, sir."

"A pleasure to meet you, Miss Frost."

With that, he was off at the bar.

Yeah. Morton might have that whole Kaeleeran male thing going on. Which meant he might have been an idiot.

He flushed. He'd... wrapped an arm around her shoulder. Leaned his head into hers. The memories boiled up fresh all over again.
