It'd been too long since Beka had sparred now and when her name wasn't called, she started looking around to see if someone else would be up for a spar. It wouldn't do to get rusty.

Ooh, new girl who looked like she was looking for a fight. Rose gave her a quick grin. "Wanna spar?"

Beka shook her head as she remembered their previous conversation. "I'm guessing I should."

"I'm pretty strong and fast," she said, shrugging. But not where she should be yet. "I can tone it down."

"Just give me some time to adjust and we can figure it out," Beka suggested, having a feeling that Rose might be understating things.

Rose grinned and claimed their space on the mats. "C'mon then."

Beka followed and moved to a fighting stance. Her hands felt empty without her baton, but she'd manage. As soon as Rose was ready, she closed the distance, aiming a punch at Rose's shoulder. Just testing the water for now.

Nothing wrong with testing the water. Rose's forearm came up, blocking the punch as she pivoted to throw a fast sidekick at Beka's midsection.

Beka was relieved to see her reflexes still worked. Her elbow came down, taking the kick on her arm. She stayed close, shifting her weight at the same moment to try to sweep Rose's leg from under her.

Wasn't going to happen - or at least not that easily - and her kicking leg came down again quickly, moving her even closer to Beka as she avoided sweep kick, and hey, while she was moving in that direction, thrust her knee towards her midsection.

The moment Beka realized she needed to move back, it was already too late. The knee hit his mark, making her catch her breath but she held her ground. Time to make place and she used her arm, hitting towards Rose's torso to push her back and follow it up with a jab to her stomach.

Her foot came down again to the side of Beka's feet to keep them close, and Rose took the forearm blow without attempting to block it as she moved to sweep kick Beka's leg, simultaneously throwing a palm strike towards her opposite shoulder to throw her down.

It was hard to dodge both at once and Beka went down. She didn't let herself catch her breath however as she hit the mat, instantly twisting to her side to scissor Rose's legs and try to pull her down with her.
