The first question was easy. "Four moonspans," she said with a nod. Naming the months would do little good when the calendar here was different. The second, though... "Perhaps? I am not knowing when my birthing-day is, so it could have passed."

"I'll get you a present just in case," Ben decided. "Birthdays should be important. There's usually cake."

Firekeeper grinned at him. "Is very kind of you," she said. "I am not knowing much about these. Back home, I have only beened to one birthing-day party. Was for a prince, and so perhaps not the usual."

"Back at the end of July," Ben said with a little shrug. "It wasn't a big deal here. I went home for the party. My father's birthday is only a few days after mine, so we usually celebrate together."

The two shared a glance and Firekeeper shrugged. "He not need, he say, since wolves is not having much use for things. But he not object if you wish to get him something good to eat." For a wolf's value of 'good', at any rate.
