The Causeway [Sunday afternoon]

Aug 30, 2009 15:40

As Remus touched down on his broomstick, he immediately pulled out a map from the inside of his robes. "Now, according to the map, we're actually on the island now. However." He pulled out a yellowed bit of parchment with scrawling, scratchy penmanship. "According to Alastor's second set of directions, we are twenty-four kilometers south of where ( Read more... )

In the parking lot there was a zebra striped van. The side door opened and Oz came out, stretching.

He waved. "Hey."

"Good afternoon," Remus said, still a little leery about being out with a broomstick and in robes in plain sight with Muggles around.

Maybe this person would just find it eccentric, if he and Sirius were in the wrong place.

Sirius was just going to be over here, on his motorcycle.

Glaring.

Oz checked his watch. Afternoon it was. And yeah the robes and broomstick were a bit strange. But Oz generally took strange in stride these days. He also noticed the map. "Where you trying to be?"

He was ignoring being glared at.

Sirius rolled his eyes as he set his flying motorcycle down. "We were in Australia yesterday, Moony. We're never following Mad-Eye's directions again. And my rear is killing me. It shouldn't take four days to get from England to the States."

"Yes, well, at least you had a seat," Remus grumbled lightly, consulting the map and tilting his head at the castle he could see a bit off. "Does that look like the photographs we were shown?"

"I offered you the sidecar, but nooooo," Sirius replied. "It's not like the helmet was going to ruin your hair."

He finally glanced over at the castle. "And yes, that looks like the photographs. Do you suppose there are a lot of castles in America?"

"No," Remus said, smiling a bit. "Their country's only two centuries old. Why would they have castles?"

To say that the flying broom that appeared to land on the island had gotten Glinda's attention was a bit of an understatement. In truth, it had taken Glinda's attention, asked it if that bit of cloth it was holding smelled of chloroform, and dragged it across state lines.

In short, she was captivated. Ba-dum-tish.

So she came rushing down from Apocalypse Avenue, her staff sending out small sparks in her excitement. "Hello!" she called when she spotted the two men, one holding the broom and the other standing next to... well, the thing he was standing next to. Glinda couldn't be expected to know what a motorcycle was right now.

"Good afternoon," Remus called affably, waving a bit. The impulse to hide the broom was still there, but if they were truly in the right place, it shouldn't be a problem.

Sirius didn't reply, being slightly more wary than Remus about, well, everything, but he nodded his head in greeting.

"I wonder if I might inquire," she started, as she finally slowed down when she got closer, "as to where you two gentlemen originated from?"

The Fandom welcome wagon, Glinda was most certainly not. She was about two seconds away from bouncing up and down in her curiosity and excitement.

Some days Tony could pretend this town was normal and it was just your average assignment from hell that kept him away from his team. But a normal one.

Today was not one of those days.

Browns. Flying brooms. Abby would have a field day.

So that would be him staring more than just a little bit. "Really?"

That earned him frustrated little not so little flail at the broom. "That--"

Just remember the day your boss was a woman, Tony.

"--this place is trying to drive me insane."

"Doesn't seem you have that far to go," replied the poster child of mental health, Sirius Black.
