Support Services Meeting: The Park, Friday After Classes

Jul 10, 2009 09:35

Much like the posters, though not as deliberately, the setup for today's meeting was a little more...restrained than usual. Mostly because Francine was sitting at one of the picnic tables with an honest to God old-fashioned ice-bag pressed to her head.

If that wasn't a signal that your co-hostess and her lovely breasts were just a little under par ( Read more... )

There really is a smashing array of baked goods. Just no brownies. Also, those coffee-or-orange-juice-in-a-box things, since Francine was at J,GoB anyway. She'd be staying far away from all of it herself, except for maybe the coffee, but that just meant more for you.

There's also a pile of phonelists for the combined reserve teams, and a clipboard for new people to sign in and leave a number.

Arthur checked over the phonelists again on his way in, rubbing idly at his brow and looking, for the most part, cranky.

A few moments later, he was looking cranky and lurking, out on the outskirts.

Gabrielle immediately passed over the orange juice in favor of the coffee, and took a phonelist because it seemed like the thing to do.

She still looked a touch perturbed from the sword skills class yesterday, but give her enough caffeine and that'd clear riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight up.

Francine's voice was a little quieter than usual, though still too loud in her head.

"Hi, guys. This is Morgana and I'm--" A zombie. Who still had cotton-mouth. "--Francine, and you're at the Support Services meeting. Since it's a new term and we've got new people, we thought we'd spend today just going over stuff and getting to know each other if we don't already." Which was going to make Francine feel extra-special-dumb if nobody new showed up today.

"To start with, if you just wandered in for the...ergh...food, you're welcome to stay, but the actual group is about helping out when weird stuff happens on the island. Which it does. A lot. Sometimes it's harmless and you just have to worry about what's gonna fall out of the sky and get stuck in your hair, but sometimes it gets dangerous.

We're not the guys who have to deal with the big stuff when that happens. There's two reserve groups, one for fighting and one for magic, who're figuring out how to protect us and training together and...stuff." Francine was saying stuff a lot ( ... )

"I'm Gabrielle," the short, reddish-blonde-headed owner of that name in the quite frankly bilious green sports bra top began. "I'm a bard, but I've also got experience treating injuries on the battlefield, getting civilians out of the battle zone, organizing them into some kind of defense, um . . . improvising weapons?" The seltzer water thing had been fun.

"Wait, what do you mean you already did?"

"We went shopping." Francine held up the phone box again. "Come see me afterwards and I can show you how to use it."

"Oh." Gabrielle was clearly caught off guard by the whole idea, and hearing Ephiny's voice in her head saying An Amazon doesn't refuse a gift from another Amazon. Not that Francine was an Amazon, but put her in the right outfit and she'd look a lot like someone who frequently got mistaken for one there was kind of a tribe thing going on here if you thought about it the right way. "All right."

Just don't bring food near Francine right now. Especially if it contains chocolate.

Gabrielle took a good look at Francine when she came over after the meeting and immediately said, "You look like I felt after I had a bad batch of nutbread."

Francine winced. Partly because the mere description of delicious poison nuts food made her feel urpy, partly because yeeeah, that was about right. Except for she'd bad batched herself.

"Something like that," she answered a little listlessly. Oh, phone, right. "Here's your phone." Which...was actually a box. So Francine opened it, and slid the phone itself out, along with the manual.
