Veronica convinced Piper to leave Lindsey at the apartment for an hour so the two of them could do some actual catching up.

They settled in to a corner table with lots of coffee and muffins for some serious BFF time.

Nathan arrived at J,GoB for his breakfast with Claire. He got a coffee and donut for himself and settled in to wait for her. Luckily he had his Blackberry with him so that he could keep on top of his campaign while he waited.

Claire got some chocolate milk and a bagel before joining Nathan.

"You look busy."

"Running for Congress in the city that never sleeps," Nathan replied. He put his Blackberry to the side. "It's a busy job."

"You're running for Congress now?"

Claire considered that. If Peter was only a teenager, then their Claire was just a little girl. Hmm.

"The time is right," Nathan said, unaware of the math Claire would be doing. He might've also sounded like he was quoting one of his speeches.

"No it isn't," Claire blurted out. "You aren't supposed to run until I'm in high school."

Then again, he and Peter weren't supposed to have their abilities this early either.

As far as Nathan was aware, his Claire was dead. At least that's what Angela and all of her resources had told him.

"That's not an option," he said over a tight smile and a sip of his coffee.

Claire frowned. "Why not? I mean, obviously you've already started your campaign, but... why now? It seems like our timelines are very different."

"Seems to be a theme with timelines," Nathan said. "Why not now? Don't tell me you think I won't be any good at the job."

"Oh, I know you're an excellent politician," Claire assured him. "It's just that... in my timeline, your campaign ends... badly."

That's quite an understatement, but she doesn't want to really get into the details just yet.

"I lose?" Nathan guessed.

"Not exactly."

How does one tell the alternate universe version of her biological father that he and his mother conspire to blow up hundreds of thousands of people?

"What happens?" Nathan asked, wondering if it was a sex scandal.

[wantstocheer]

Claire bit her bottom lip. "I really want to tell you," she said. "Because I would like to avoid it happening again. But... you're not going to like it."

Remembering that weekend that he and Peter weren't exactly themselves, Nathan asked, "This have anything to do with a guy named Sylar?"

[wantstocheer]

"Partly, yes," Claire said. "I first met Peter when he saved me from Sylar. Apparently in some alternate timeline, Sylar killed me and gained my ability, which made him unstoppable."
