"Welcome back to Fight Club," Tyler began. "You've been put through drills, labeled, and classified in neat little boxes for us to play with. If that pisses you off ... it should. But it's how this works

It had been a while since Turtle had really sparred, but she had been practicing plenty of the beginner moves. So she let out a breath, counted backwards from ten to focus, and then got ready to meet Fiona on the mats.

Fiona was actually in a remarkably good mood today, so her desire to hit things was at a minimum. Upon seeing Turtle on the mats, she gave a quick wave.

Turtle took a moment to consider the implications of that, and she nodded. "Skin harder than usual," she repeated. "Good thing I don't depend on blades, then, I guess."
With that, she settled into a defensive, ready position.

Fiona settled into her own, looking at Turtle curiously. She didn't want to attack on this bout; something told her to wait and see what Turtle did first.

And Turtle was watching Fiona, thoughtfully, considering her options, going through all the lessons that Miss Atreides had been giving, going through all the various different first moves she could make.
Of course, once she actually did go to make one, something more like panic than careful planning set off in Turtle's head, and all she could think to do was go right for a kick to the shins.

A kick to the shins was easy enough to dodge, especially since the other girl had warned her about it. Something in her rebelled at the idea of striking at her, perhaps because she had less faith that Turtle would be able to dodge or block and the last thing she wanted to do was harm someone.
Instead she went for a grab, reaching for one arm to try and twist it behind her back.

"Great, actually. My brother came to visit. So did my dad. They were here for the convention."

She bounced between one leg and the other.
"What about you? Anything good this weekend?"

She fidgeted a little, and reminded herself that fidgeting was no good in a spar. "So, I guess...?"
