Once the horses were fed, groomed, and sent into the paddock, Dani retreated to the office and spent a while on the phone talking to Kris Furillo. She went on for a long time about how awkward she felt waking up yesterday morning with the guy she met at the bar the night before and how awful she felt for not really honoring her dead boyfriend's ( Read more... )

Minsc had some impressively rended platemail that needed fixing, so after his class, he made sure to mosey on down to the Gig to ask about using the forge to fix it. It really was a shame Rosie wasn't around anymore. She could not only have fixed it much better than he could, but he always did enjoy watching her work at the forge, the heat of the coals and her sweat making her face glow red and little curls of her hair drifting around her head like a halo...

...Still, Minsc found himself also thinking that seeing Lady Dani, although she certainly did not possess any of those traits that had made the previous owner so attractive to him, would be rather nice right now, too.

"Lady Dani!" he called out, bold and loud so that she could hear him even if she was out with the horses. "Are you about?"

"I'm over here!" Dani called out from the paddock area. "The alligators aren't back, are they? I don't think I could spend another night sleeping in the barn."

"No alligators!" Minsc shouted back. He liked yelling. "Just a man in need of mending some armour! I was wondering," yes, still yelling from the street, "if I may use your forge, Lady Dani?"

There was a pause. Minsc knew he had the words right there, but, for some reason, he really felt the need to clarify.

"And by that I mean the big, hot, gaping hole for putting weapons in and stuff!"

No, that...still didn't sound quite right, but it'll do.

Dani left the paddock behind and came out in front of the building so she wouldn't have to yell. "Oh, sure! You're welcome to use the forge any time. I certainly appreciated the help last week, by the way. It's nice to know I can count on my neighbors," she said.
