The Arms Hotel Lobby, Friday

Apr 03, 2009 11:11

Once more, Gunther was patrolling the lobby with his rolling pin and the sous chef was guarding the back door with a meat cleaver in hand. Mary also had her gun within reach at the front desk. She hoped that she wouldn't have to use it, but she wouldn't hesitate if any of the undead posed a threat.

Sean had been as yet unable to find the lotion for his master. Boss. Whatever. Point being, he hadn't found it. And something in his zombified brain was telling him that the hotel was the right place to try -- maybe he could get upstairs to his room to check.

Of course, the actual thought process went something more like "Lotiooooon? Upstaaaaaaaairs? Then braaaaaains!" But even so. It was still remarkable logic for a zombie.

He lumbered across the lobby.

Mary had heard that Sean had become a zombie, but actually seeing like this came as a bit of a shock. "Oh, Sean, don't take this the wrong way, but you look awful!" she said.

"Maaaaaaary!" he gurgled happily, pleased that she knew who he was. It was kind of sad how many people were so scared to see zombies.

"How the heck did this happen?" asked Mary, relaxing her grip on her gun for the moment.

He couldn't remember, really. Partly because he didn't have the brains for it -- no pun intended, honestly -- and partly because, well, it'd been traumatic (not that he classified it as such in his present state) and the brain tended to suppress traumatic events sometimes.

"Braaaaaains."

Well, it was sort of accurate.

"Do you mean that they wanted your brains, or they sent you to look for more brains?" asked Mary, frowning slightly. It hadn't occurred to her yet that Sean might not be able to answer her questions.

Sean made a flaily hand gesture to indicate the first option.

And then said hand fell off. Oops. But since Mary was his friend, he painfully crouched down to pick his hand up.

Mary couldn't help cringing at the fallen hand. It was so gross.

"Well, if they've gotten your brains, I guess they're pretty much done with you, right?" she asked hopefully.

"Braaaaaains," he said by way of agreement.

"Now we just have to figure out what happens next," said Mary. "Hopefully they'll figure out how to restore you, but in the meantime... I don't know."

"Braaaains?" He looked a little hopeful. Hey, you couldn't blame the guy. He took a step towards Mary, not wanting to scare her but wanting to get closer to the only brains in the room.

"Oh no, you don't want my brains," said Mary, instinctively taking a step back. "I can be a complete ditz sometimes and really, I need my brain."
