Her detention over with, Gwen made her way to the Perk to plot revenge against Skywalker. He was getting far too big for his boots that one.

Charles gave the girl a once over when she walked in. She was attractive, he had to admit, but he had to be careful. She could easily be a plant set in by John to learn his secrets.

But she was really cute so Charles gave her a nod when he caught her eye.

Well this was interesting.

Gwen grinned and came over to Charles. "Afternoon."

"Hello," Charles greeted her with a nod. "How are you this fine afternoon?"

"Much better now that I've met you," Gwen purred.

That's the type of thing Charles liked to hear. He smiled widely at her. "Likewise. Care to have a seat?"

"Don't mind if I do," Gwen replied, sitting down. "Gwen Cooper."

He should recognise the name, after all, she was a world famous police-detective-turned-secret-organisation-member-turned-gossip-columnist.

Charles tilted his head. He knew where he heard that name but there was no way he was going to admit he read gossip columns almost fanatically. That was embarrassing.

"I'm Charles Bass," he replied. "Pleased to meet you."

He could actually use this to his advantage, if he could convince her to write nasty things about John. Let's see if Anakin will give him the diamond mine then.

Gwen required very little incentive to write nasty things about people that closely connected to the Skywalkers. "Charmed I'm sure."

"Your name sounds very familiar," Charles said, determined not to let it slip that he read her column. "What is it that you do?"

[ihaveniceteeth]

"I'm a writer," Gwen replied, crossing her legs and tossing her hair. "Amongst other things."

"A writer? Really? What is it that you write?" he asked. "Novels, scripts, news articles?"

[ihaveniceteeth]

"All sorts of things," Gwen replied. "Things that can make or break a man."

"That so?" Charles said, looking pleased. "And what if I told you that there was a certain man out there that I would like to see broken beyond repair?"

"I would say that we could quite possibly do business."

[rocksthescarf]

"I assure you, your efforts won't go unrewarded," Charles promised. "Do you know a John Sheppard? He's not really big news himself, but he is quite close to the Skywalker family."
