The town hall was buzzing with excitement. Mostly due to the island positioned just off-shore. Also partly because the mayor had brought a gun to work this morning, and that was the kind of thing one got excitable about.
There was a note tacked onto Cable's office's door. He hadn't noticed it yet.
Robin
Robin actually had her gun on her as well, today. She didn't think it was a bad idea, considering what she'd reported the night before, with the crazy and all. Plus, hey, if she found her somehow and irritated her, Robin would have a defense against that annoying bitch.
She'd probably force cupcakes on her or something.
But today, she had left the dogs at home, and was now kind of moving around the island, trying to check on the people she knew (and see if she could find stupid Victoria and make her choke on a cookie or something), which was why she was peeking into Town Hall. "Oh, hey, she's not here. Awesome."
Cable
Cable had decided on the spandex as a precaution for the next few days. His gun was roughly big enough to function as a decent club, and it peeked ever largely up from over his shoulder. He was frowning, or maybe scowling, and it took about half a second for him to actually recognize anyone talking to him.
"Who are we talking about?" he asked, rubbing the side of his head.
Robin
"Stupid Victoria," Robin said, because clearly he should understand that. "Be careful if she shows up and tries to give you cupcakes or something."
Cable
"Cupcakes aren't much of a problem right now," Cable replied. He shot one of the members of the staff a very distinct look, and she scurried quickly out the door. "Any other warnings?"
Robin
"Well, I mean, from what I hear, Victoria's one of the easy ones," she said, eyeing his gun. "Someone showed up for you, too?"
Cable
"Not yet." He gave her a quick once-over to make sure she hadn't gotten hurt or anything-- just to make sure. "But I have my suspicions."
Robin
"And we don't know where the hell they all came from?" she checked.
Cable
Cable made a good show of failing to rub his forehead in annoyance. Staying calm was the name of the game, and he was good at it. "Where they come from isn't the problem," he said, "I'm more interested in getting them back there."
On the other side of the door, a certain staff member peeked uncertainly around the door. "Mayor Summers...?"
Robin
"Don't you have to know where they came from to put them back?" she said, turning her attention to the staff member.
Cable
"Their island is parked right beside ours. That's enough--"
"Mayor Summers?" she repeated, "Um, someone left you a note. Big metal guy. Or someone left someone named 'Dayspring' a note. I haven't been fully briefed on all of your titles y--"
She didn't manage to get the entire statement out before Cable had veered up in his seat. "OATH!" he yelled, knocking his chair back with some force, sped past the desk, past Robin, and past the poor, hapless unnamed member of the staff. "STRYFE!"
Robin
"...does he do that a lot?" she asked, staring after him. "Just go running off shouting random words?"
The Staff
"For a man of his kinda disposition," the hopeless staff member replied, turning to join Robin in her staring, "...he can be weirdly excitable."
Robin
"Just...wow." She looked around, thinking. "I don't really have anything to do today, actually, and if he's going to go off yelling about strife and oaths -- two words I haven't used outside Scrabble since I took the SAT -- I can help out here. I've been here long enough to know how to hold down the fort."
"Oh!" The staff member brightened, pulling away from the door. She kinda hoped this didn't mean the end of yet another mayor's tenure, because she was starting to run low on people to muscle into the job. "Awesome! You have no idea about the paperwork we've been getting... invasions, yannow?"
"Yeah, I know," Robin sighed, already setting her gun aside. "Believe me, I know."
[And Robin's here for the day to hold down the fort. :D Played with the awesome
spring_lost, natch, and it's totally fine broadcast-wise, and open for interaction if you have a need for a Robin.]
