"He's cute. A bit large," she observed. "And I'm not sure I'd hug him because I bet the fish smell is a bitch to get out of clothes. But he's still cute."

"He likes anchovies", Michael noted, tossing another of them to the seal. "Even if they're kind of stale."

"Ick! Even if they weren't stale," Isabel shuddered. "Stinky fish."

She took a seat at the counter, out of range of the seal. She hoped. "So how's life treating you these days?"

"Pretty good." He shrugged, wandering round to the front of the counter.

The attempted innocent look was completely ruined by a small laugh.

That was a thought that had Isabel contemplating sitting on the counter. Seals were cool. But she didn't want to get too up close and personal.

"Fine," she said. "You and Ino? Again?"

"Yeah, me and Ino", he said almost defiantly. "Well, kind of. I think."

He snorted. "Yeah, that she definitely is."

"I like her." Which was the truth. Isabel had thought about it since she and Ino had had that discussion in the Perk. And that, combined with remembering Ino's reaction to the story Isabel had told when they were weetiny made her realize they were dealing with completely different world views. All that mattered in the end she realized, was that Ino did care about Michael.

"She'll keep you busy."
