The people in charge now knew where the kidnapped people were being kept. A party had gathered and they were on their way to the depths of the Underworld to bring their people back, no matter what stood in their way.

Beyond the last demon, there was a stone lever in the wall. It was easy to miss, camouflaged against the rock face, but once pulled the walls separating the tombs from the main corridor disappeared. Inside each tomb was one person who had gone missing the day before, probably still in the grips of the Nightmares. The Nightmares wouldn't attack the rescuers though. They were too entranced by the meal they'd been given by Hades.

Harriet had her back pressed against the wall, arms wrapped around her knees, but her eyes were wide open as she stared into the darkness.

It was very important to shut certain things out by the time Jaina got to the tombs. They'd gotten this far, now it was just getting everyone out again. Totally easy.

She got to the first tomb, opening it and peeking inside, not sure what she'd find.

Harriet's eyes locked onto Jaina, but she didn't move. "If you're another nightmare you can bloody well sod off."

She'd regret the language later, especially when she realised she was talking to a student, but she'd had a hard time of it.

That was much better than Jaina'd thought she would find, actually. "Wouldn't be the first time I was called that, but no. I'm part of the rescue party. Time to go."

She sagged against the wall, closing her eyes for a moment, then struggled to her feet, cradling her wrist. "Right," she said firmly, and wobbled when she took a step. Old bones and cold were not a good combination, especially when mixed with two days of intermittent terror, but sheer stubbornness could overcome. "Lead the way...Jaina, isn't it?"

"That's right," she said, nodding, stepping out of the way to let her out of the cell. "We're getting everyone out of their cells."

"Thank god," she whispered, then went through the door, flinching just a little when she saw the rest of Tartarus. She didn't have time to break down, she couldn't afford to let what had happened stop her from doing her job. "And thank you." The need to know what was happening was itching at her, but she limited it to only a single question. "Hades?"

"I think there's a line of people to take care of him," Jaina answered. "Should at least keep him busy long enough."

Giselle was still singing, the thread of the song sounding thin against the stone as she kept working on cleaning the funny little cell she'd been given. Also she wanted to know when Panic was going to come visit her.

All right, the singing Jaina could hear when the door opened was weird, but better than screaming. "Hello?" she called quietly.

"Oh, just when I had finished cleaning," Giselle said. "Well! It will be very tidy for the next person! You know how much better one can rest in a clean room. Oh! I'm Giselle."

Wow, she must have really cracked in here. "Good to meet you," Jaina said kindly, and gestured to the door. "And if you come right through here we can get you back to Fandom where it's always cleaner." Except after an invasion usually.
