Apocalyspe Avenue

Certain that Ralph was handling everything at the station, Roy made his way through the streets of Fandom. He knew exactly where he was heading as the culprit of this all had been spotted at the school. He just hoped he'd get there before the deadline ran out.

There was an apparition in front Roy, swooping back and forth, looking for warmth and life.

Roy startled. It wasn't the first ghost he'd run in to today, but he hadn't noticed this one as he'd been too concentrated on getting to the school. For a moment he looked at the ghost too closely and he shivered, but moved to pass it, having no time to waste.

The ghost passed through Roy while he moved, feeling the momentary warmth and comfort that he'd once had when he was alive.

That hadn't happened before and everything went cold, making Roy stop in his tracks as his knees went weak. The world went spinning for an instant and he had no time for this. He closed his eye, pushing away the tiredness and he pushed himself to walk faster, almost running.

The ghost swooped quickly closer, passing through Roy again, feeling that blessed warmth and that welcome life.

This time he went through his knees as he never saw the ghost coming. He braced his hands on the gravel, knowing that the gloves he was wearing were useless against this.

"Just go away," he snapped at the ghost, though it didn't sound as forceful as he would have liked. His arms were shaking as he pushed up again.

It meant no harm, no harm, no harm at all. Roy just had something it wanted. They could share, right?

The ghost passed through him again, slower this time, soaking up the warmth.

The thing was moving through him, he knew that it was useless to try to push it off. He tried anyway, the edges of his vision blurring and soon he didn't have the strength as blackness claimed everything.

He wouldn't make that deadline.
