D'Argo had called out today, which meant Tino had to fill in. He'd been looking forward to maybe getting out for once, checking out Greece, but noooo, he had to open the bar in case any new people found themselves hyperventilating at the weird and needing to drown their panic in booze.

Nathan wasn't hyperventilating at the weird but booze was still welcome regardless. He got himself a scotch and tried to savor it while ignoring the zombie band.

Logan decided to break the silence that he really would have preferred, but sometimes you saw things that prompted you to ask questions. "Any clue what's with the turtles?" he asked the guy with the scotch.

Nathan did the same. He looked the newcomer over. "Don't take this the wrong way but I really hope you're not a student."

"You an' me both, bub" Logan said. "Nah, I'm teaching a workshop at the school this summer. It's something to do in my down time."

Logan glanced at the hand. He went back to his beer. "The name's Logan."

Practice kept Nathan from rolling his eyes as he took his hand back. The name rang a bell, so he asked, "Logan? Logan the new teacher? I think I'm your taeching buddy."

"Give the lay of the land, warn about some of the more... unique aspects of the job." Nathan took another drink of his scotch. "That band up there, for example."

"Zombies?" Logan asked, crinkling his nose at being reminded of the smell of death that persisted here. "If they're not ninjas and trying to kill me, this is a step down. What else do you got?"

"More along those lines," Nathan said, glad he didn't have to be the one to say the z-word out loud. "Sounds like old hat for you."

"Yep. I've taught before too, so I'm not scared of that either," Logan said. "Tell you what. You get the next drink and we'll consider your buddy duties done. Deal?"

"Deal," Nathan said. He thought about how many teachers at the school could be bribed with alcohol, then he thought about how, given the student body, that made a hell of a lot of sense.

"If this is downtime, what's up?" Nathan asked.
