Come almost evening time, Brooke and Tabitha were still at the ice cream place, both on their second sundae. Try as she might, Brooke hadn't been able to get any sort of booze mixed in with hers, even for as much as she thought she deserved it

Automatically trying to shy away from the napkin, Tabitha said, "You said it's not about a guy and it doesn't matter because you love me enough for two people."

"I knew I got screwed over," Brooke muttered, then remembered she had a five-year-old looking back up at her. "Are you okay with that?"

Tabitha wasn't too bothered, and she picked up her spoon because she still had ice cream left and that was just wrong. "I have lots of uncles," she said. "Everyone else only has one or two dads. I win."

"That's a great way to look at it," she said with a smile.

"Aunt Haley says I have good per- perspeckive."

"Your aunt Haley's right," said Brooke. "Hey. I have an idea. Wanna scare Aunt Peyton?"

"Yeah," Tabitha said immediately. "How?"

Brooke got her phone from her purse and found Peyton's name in her speed dial. "All you have to do is say hi. And a few other words," she instructed.
