Karal found himself at Caritas again, and smiled at Jolee as he sat down. "Good evening!" He was feeling rather cheerful for some reason.

"What's so good about it?" Jolee asked. He was busy trying to pull water out of his robes with the Force. It was difficult work and made Jolee crabby.

Then again, most things did.

"It's not snowing, it was a beautiful day for the time of year, Trenor didn't get eaten by a demon dog, and I know when midwinter is." He looked curiously at Jolee's sodden self. "Did you spill something?"

"You don't want to know. Just be careful what you say tonight," Jolee said. He felt that was fair warning. He only gave that because he liked Karal.

"I have towels and the Force is my drier, I'll be fine," Jolee said. "What can I get you?"

"Just a glass of water, please."

If only he'd known what Jolee had meant when he'd said to be careful. A torrent of water poured over his head, drenching him, and he spluttered in surprise.

"Of course," Jolee said, filling a glass before handing it and a towel to Karal. "Here you go."

His curls were plastered to his head, his shirt was sticking to him, but he just sighed, took the towel wordlessly and mopped his face.

"Be careful what you say tonight," Jolee repeated. At least he was smiling now. It was a cruel, elderly smile, but still very cheerful in its way.

"Thank you," he said, offering a doubtful smile in return. "I still say it's a good day, though. A little water can't put a damper on it."

Water obediently came out of nowhere and drenched Karal again.

Karal nodded and used the now rather damp towel to dry his face. "I'm guessing this is how you began your evening?"

"Twice. I learned to choose my words carefully after that," Jolee said. "Now I only say the bad word if I want to shove it at people with the Force."

"Can you do that?" he asked curiously. If he'd been less distracted by the water trickling down the back of his neck, he'd have thought to clarify that he wasn't asking for a demonstration.
