Also to see if he could spot any potential dangers to Claire that might need to be - ahem - taken care of.

He was a multitasker like that.

Mr. Bennet broke out into a big smile. "Claire!"

He opened his arms to catch her and give her a tight hug. He was her father after all and it was a father's job to make sure his daughter knew that she was cared for.

Quick note: Weapons aren't being confiscated just now. However the weapons ban in the school and dorms still applies. Which means that all characters should consider themselves to have handwavily turned over all weapons when entering school property.
