This was something new. Angela approached the stand, squinting at the menu board. "Hi," she said. "What's a, um giddy-girly?"

He smiled. "Lots of swirly chocolate and nuts. Nuts are ten cents extra. Would you like a small, medium, or large? I'm George Michael."

"Small, and no nuts," Angela decided. "I'm Angela. I graduated last spring, so I'm just back for the dance and everything. Do you go to school here?"

"The business was started by my Pop-Pop, then my dad took it over, and I worked for my dad during school and now, I guess I'm taking a break before college. Deciding what I want to do." George Michael handed over her banana with plenty of napkins. "Are you in college?"

Angela took a delicate bite of frozen banana. "I worked in my dad's restaurant last summer, so I kind of know what that's like. And yeah, I'm a Freshman up in New York."

"It's actually pretty dull next to this place," Angela said. "Classes are harder, though." She tilted her head. "Are you going to go, or do you see your future in bananas?"

"I'm not sure what to make of this place yet. Day before yesterday a chicken chased me," he said, thinking about that and not about to admit that it scared him. "Oh," he chuckled. "There's always money in the banana stand, but I am going to go to college. I just don't know what I want to do yet."
