The Beach, all day

No workshops and no library meant that Isabel was free to head to the beach to start working on her tan. Spreading out her blanket, she carefully applied some sunscreen. Days at the beach weren't fun if you wound up looking like a lobster.

Anakin, as always, wasn't a fan of the sand, but the water drew him like a magnet.

He smiled as he stretched his blanket out in a sunny spot. It was finally getting warm enough for him.

"Here to enjoy a day off?" Isabel asked as she dug into her bag for a bottle of water.

Anakin grinned over at her and nodded. "I need a break from messing around with Aeryn's transport pod," he told her. "And it's finally getting to be a normal temperature around here."

Anakin was strange, yeah.

"You're nuts, you realize that?" she grinned. "I prefer cooler weather. That can lead to snuggling by fires and other fun things."

"Two suns," Anakin countered, smiling back. "I spent most of my early childhood baking in the desert. Some things you just don't get over."

"Warped for life," Isabel nodded. "It's an oddly endearing trait I suppose."

[sith_happened]

"That's me," Anakin said, laying back and flinging an arm across his eyes. "Oddly endearing. Ask anyone."

[izzyalienqueen]

"There are worse things to be called. Cranky and stubborn for one," she said. "Uptight ice princess for another."

Anakin moved his arm, looking a little cranky. "Someone called you an ice princess?" he asked.

"Long ago," Isabel shrugged. "Before I came here. The thing was, at the time? It was true. I was pretty much a bitch."

Anakin frowned anyway. "It doesn't make it right," he insisted.

[izzyalienqueen]

"Sticks and stones," she said. "Besides, the person saying it was a vapid, little twit of a cheerleader who was pissed that I went on a date with the guy I knew she liked. So we're even in the name calling game."

Anakin rolled his eyes. "Oh, one of those," he said. "I knew a Padawan or twelve who fit that description."

[izzyalienqueen]

"I thought Padawans didn't date? Or was it more pettiness over who had the shinier lightsaber?" Isabel teased.

[sith_happened]

"As long as there are beings more adept at something than other beings, there will be pettiness," Anakin said. "For an Order that prided itself on its ability to be unbiased, a good number of them certainly started out as some obnoxious little tools."

Not that he was still bitter.

Really.

She raised an eyebrow warily. "But did they eventually outgrow it?"
