The snakes had cleared out of the church, leaving no sign that they were ever really even there to begin with, which, admittedly, kind of creeped Rosette out. She had extra lights in the confessional today, so she could keep her eye on the corners for any that might have still been lurking, waiting to bite her ankle or something while she cleaned ( Read more... )

It had taken Liz some time to decide to come in to the church, seeing how she hadn't stepped inside one since the incident. She gazed around nervously.

Chrono nodded to the girl as she came in, with a small smile. "Hello. Sister Rosette's doing confessionals today, if you need her, but, if you need anything else, I'd be happy to help."

Liz hesitated for a few seconds, "...I came for confessionals," she replied quietly.

Chrono nodded, and offered a smile that he hoped seemed encouraging. "Just go right in, then."

"Thank you," Liz said softly as she moved to go in.

Rosette hummed slightly as she heard someone enter the confessional.

"Hello, my child," she said, rehersed, but cheerful. Perhaps morbidly so, considering this was a confessional. "What sins have you brought forth before God for forgiveness today?"

"I don't think they can be forgiven," Liz said softly.

[no problem!]

Rosette drew in a breath; that definately killed her mood just a bit. She hoped this wasn't going to be another murder. If it was, maybe she'd have to do a special on that whole 'thou shalt not kill' thing she'd been reading about.

"Don't be silly," she responded. "The key to this whole forgiveness thing is remorse. If you truly wish to be forgiven, God will see it fit to grant it...There are few things," she said, though she wasn't quite too sure on its truth, at all, it mostly just sounded good, "that would cause Him to turn his backs on us..."

Nope. Didn't believe that one bit. Maybe, though, this girl would, and it would make her feel better.

Liz took a deep breath, "I ...have this power, a dangerous one. I...couldn't control it..."

Another one of these, huh? She drew in a breath. "You'd be surprised," she offered, "how common such a thing is. Did...you hurt many people with it?"

"Many people?" Rosette asked. "And what was the context? Was it used recklessly, or was there a purpose beind it?"

"32 people," Liz said in a voice that was barely above a whisper, she fought a lump in her throat as she gazed at her hands, "a rock was thrown at me...I lost control and...I burnt a city block,"

Rosette's head tilted a little. Whole city blocks. That brought back a few memories. Of course, when she did it, they had been mostly abandoned.

"Are you remorseful for what you've done?" she asked.

Liz nodded, "yes..." she said softly, "I couldn't stop it, I shouldn't have survived,"

"Well," Rosette said, trying a slightly different direction. "Ever thought maybe of why you did?"
