The Perk, afternoon, Sunday

On his way to the Perk, Jake had run into a Weetiny Detective, and the Weetiny Detctive had decided to come along.

Jake held the door open for Aiden. "What kind of coffee do you like?"

"With milk," Aiden replied looking up at Jake as she wandered past him into the perk. "And sugar. Lotsa sugar."

"You're my kind of girl," Jake grinned as he followed her inside. "Do you want a snack too? They have..." He looked at today's selection. "Cakes and buns and stuff."

"Are there cookies?" Aiden asked, running over to look at what might be in the food display. "I had cookies for breakfast with Aly."

"The spy teacher?" Jake asked, a little confused. "Yeah, those are chocolate chip and caramell and... Well, you can see for yourself," he finished vaguely, and turned to the barista. "A weetiny latte and a hazelnut mocha, please."

"Aly's my friend 'cause we shared cookies," Aiden said with a solemn nod. Cookies are a life bond. "Chocolate," she said pointing through the glass. "...please?"

Jake nodded. He imagined that it was probably akin to sharing coffee for weetiny girls. "Since you asked nicely, yes." He turned to the barista. "A chocolate chip cookie and chocolate croissant as well, thanks."

It only took a moment before Jake was attempting to balance two plates and two cups of coffee. "Where do you want to sit?"

Aiden looked around for a minute, then pointed to a window seat. "So we can see all the people," she said. "An' the snow."

Jake was just happy it was close by. He walked over, put the food and drinks down and then sat down himself to divide everything. He pushed the cookie and the latte towards Aiden. "Those are yours. The latte has lots of milk and-- Oh!" He jumped up, went back to the counter and came back with several packets of sugar. "And sugar!"

"Sugar!" Aiden beamed. Jake might be regretting giving the girl sugar and caffeiene later, considering how excitable she is already. "Thanks, Jake."

"You're welcome." Jake unfortunately knew nothing about the effects of sugar and caffeine on little people so he smiled to her and sipped his mocha. "Have you been a detective for long?"

Aiden shook her head and wrapped both hands around her mug. "Nope. Jus' started," she said. "But, I'm good," she assured him.

"I bet you are," Jake agreed. Hey, if she said so, he wasn't going to question it. "Do you have a magnifying glass and a cap too?"

"I got a magnifier," Aiden said. "An' my camera, and recording machines, and spy pens and lots of other cool stuff."

"You're totally set then," Jake grinned. He sipped his mocha. "If I even need a detective, I'm definitely coming to you. I can tell you'd be able to find anything."

"Anything," Aiden agreed. She lowered her voice. "Chad said I should investigate Parker," she said. "I don' think she's done anything naughty that I need t' investigate."

Jake choked on his coffee. After coughing a little, he shook his head. "No, no, definitely not. I don't think you should investigate Parker at all! You could investigate... Rory! I bet she has lots of secrets." And was less likely to kill either Aiden or Chad.
