It's a bit old school (I got it back in the early 90s), but it's pretty good. Magicians and unicorns, plus the sassy red haired girl. I remember especially liking it because the boy magician was the one who could talk to the unicorns (a point for me, as I was a young boy who liked unicorns in a society that said they were only for little princesses). And his magic was really unique to me in that the stronger the spells he casted, the older it would make him look (for a while). So a really super strong spell would turn him into a decrepit old man for a few months. I thought that was pretty cool.

I think there are five books in the series, but I may be misremembering. But definitely not a YA story. I remember trying to read it in the 90s and it was too complex for me. There is a level of politics in it that I was too young, at the time, to follow, but that eventually falls to the wayside for UNICORNS. Hopefully the books are still available somewhere, if not new than at least used.

Post makes me happy too because I'm always sticking unicorns into my (adult-targeted) original novels, so it's nice to know that at least some people out there still want to read about them. :)

Ugh, I've only read one of that series, and I want to try and find the others somewhere D: I think they're all out of print though, as the one I read was from a library. So many books I want to read, yet so many of them out of print.

*Googles* Looks like most of them are on ebay for anywhere between $2-10, which isn't too bad, considering they're out of print. Amazon has them used too, but looks like for significantly more. Don't see any complete sets, but you might find some with a longer search than I'm doing, or looking at other sites that carried used books!

I just located my copies and can only find four of the five. Wonder where the fifth went. :/

Well there's something I can add to a Christmas wishlist. Yay!
