Awww, I think it's sweet how bashfully you presented this secret.

[DISCUSSION OF HER CHARACTER AND THE PROS AND CONS OF DIFFERENT WRITERS] P.S. I have relationshippy fantasies about her /o\

It's okay! Lots of us have romantic fantasies about fictional characters! See: ...well, most of fandom. There's nothing wrong with that! And Power Girl is a cool woman to pick as your focus. :D

Peej! \o/ (I just love having an excuse to say that.)

And even though I've only read a couple of Power Girl storylines, word to everything you said. :D It makes me sad when people dismiss her based on the boob window.

I don't have much to say about the actual secret, but I please keep spreading the Peege love! There's more to her then her boob window, and it would be cool to talk about that sometimes.

Dude, you're kinda awesome. I can really get behind how you appreciate the character for her power, use and personality. It makes it evident even without your disclaimer that the relationship fantasy ain't about the boob window and dat ass, which is fine in its own right, but about the person.

And it's a little sweetly romantic. Keep being awesome, anon. You deserve a PG with that kind of attitude.

I honestly haven't been too into Power Girl, but after reading Infinite Crisis and hearing good things about her new ongoing I've been interested in reading more of her.

Your secret is adorable and I can relate. Just because a female character has a giant rack, doesn't mean they're nothing more than a sex symbol.

Yes, but when all mainstream superheroines have giant racks, impossibly tiny waists and flawless faces, the message becomes that you can only save the world if you fit society's (nearly impossible to attain) standard of "sexiness." That's an extremely problematic lesson to teach young women. IMO, the comic book world needs more Hit-Girl types to even it out.

Indeed.

That's why I'm liking many of the younger generation females of the X-Men. They're not overly busty-- they're average build and very relatable for people.

I'm just saying-- people judge Ms. Marvel and Power Girl unfairly because of their sex appeal.

That's one of the nice things about Power Girl, though. Yes, her boobs are big. Unless the artist is a hack, however, the rest of her build is similarly powerful. Broad shoulders, good hips, muscular arms, etc.

Awww!

Does anyone not love PowerGirl? She rocks, so hardcore.

To be honest, it's the boobs that attracted me to her first *is shallow*, but then I started to read up on her and she's just so damn awesome!

not too familiar with Power Girl, but your secret is adorable, really! =)

I'm not a DC person I pick up some Bat books and I'll get BOP when it starts up again but that's really it so I'm not familiar with the character or her place in the DC universe. I see Powergirl and can only assume she's a T&A character.

If I'm wrong and she has substance fair enough I'm wrong, it's a snap superficial judgment based on her look alone, but I'm still not going out to buy any of her books the high potential for misogyny is just to much for my taste precisely because of that look.

Yay! And yay Amanda Conner, she really is awesome. She makes her women look genuinely strong.

Honestly, I know I'm in a minority, but I was a tiny little girl who developed boobs at a very young age, so I always liked seeing busty superheroines being awesome and saving the world and not... you know... getting made fun of at school all the time for looking weird. :D Like, "now you're an awkward preteen who guys don't know how to react to, but in ten years or so you're going to be BADASS."

I know that the proportions of female comic book characters in general are annoyingly similar to each other and unrealistic... but I find it a little problematic to say that the super-skinny body type is "more relatable" than the curvy type. They're "relatable" to different people.

I also like that Power Girl's costume actually looks like it SUPPORTS her boobs, instead of just having them flopping around painfully all the time, like some of the superhero costumes.

I like seeing body types like this and this around.

(Both by Jaime Hernandez, and the first is slice-of-life/soap-opera, which is what he mostly does, but now and then he'll do some fun short superhero story like with the second pic.)
