I enjoy reading my own fic! I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Pretty much the only reason I write fic is to read it. I barely read anyone else's.

Hate reading my own stuff from like 3+ years ago though because it is uniformly awful

Anyway I think this is all pretty routine stuff

I both hate re-reading my own fic and do it compulsively. For the same reason you do, when it comes to the re-reading it.

yeah me too :x same reason. also I kinda like rereading things I've just written so I can be like, "well wasn't this nice! *pat on the back*" because the day will come where I will read the same thing and be like UGH GODD THIS SUCKS.

Um. Are you me? I re-read my fic all of the time, mostly for this exact reason (it's gotten better over the last year).

So? It's not a crime to enjoy reading your own work.

Hey, it's cool, I know what you mean.

It's weird, I barely ever write fic, but when I do, I either love or hate what I wrote.

Welcome to Normal-Land, population: All of us!

I mean that in a nice way. The only reason I write fic is to play out the weird scenarios and theories the way I want.

Oh, I frequently re-read my own stuff. So do a few of the most skilled writers I know.

It's hard to just enjoy it when I'm in the middle of writing it, but months or a year or two later, I can be the audience, and it's fun.

If it's been long enough that I don't remember the writing process, but not so long ago that I'm embarrassed about having written it, I don't mind rereading my own stuff as well.

Agreed, I write for a not-very-popular ship and sometimes I read my own stuff when I'm craving that pairing. I don't consider myself an especially good writer, but it doesn't make you or me bad writers!

When I'm feeling low self confidence I go back and read some of my stories. It's a great boost and it always makes me want to start writing again!

I read my own stuff but don't like owning up to it for exactly the opposite reason -- I'm always worried it'll be perceived as arrogant.

I don't see why it would be a bad thing to enjoy re-reading your own fics. You write stuff you like, it's only logical you should like reading it!
