Oh, geez, I hate that, too. What's the point of posting something if it's just going to sit around and mold after people look at it once or twice? To me, that's kind of like buying a book and then keeping it in a case and never reading it because you don't want to crease the spine.

If that was its original purpose, how is that a problem? Aren't fanfics created for "reading"? Aren't layouts created for "housing content"? Aren't fanarts made for "viewing"?

Would you cut and paste someones fanfic? Would you rip off someone's layout? Would you use someone's fanart without permission?

Using a photo or fanart for an icon is less like cutting and pasting someone's fanfic and more like quoting their fanfic in your user profile.
