Name the fandom. And repeats, etc.

This secret got me so excited for a minute, because I thought that it might be from a fandom friend that I haven't spoken to in a while. I really miss her, but she always acts like she doesn't have any time for me. And then I remembered that she doesn't know anything about f!s and doesn't even have a livejournal. Now I am sad because I know the secret isn't for me, and yet I miss her terribly still. :(

Not being a gamer doesn't mean that gamers can't still be funny to you. ::shrug::

Me too OP. Not a gamer, love Penny Arcade. Just because you don't understand every single thing Tycho and Gabe say in each single comic, doesn't mean they're not funny, endearing, well drawn characters in their own right. And it's not like the strip focuses solely on gaming - general geekery that any netizen would be familiar with gets a fair showing on it as well. I'm pretty sure half the people who read XKCD don't understand anything beyond high-school level maths either, but that doesn't stop them from reading the thing, so don't worry about it.

Comedy is comedy is comedy? I love standup comedy about marriage and I'm not married.

I don't hate Starbuck, but I don't really get all the hype about her either. As a character she had a lot of potential, but on the whole I do not feel she was actually as complex as some believe her to be.

... and yes, she was verging on Mary Sueish at times.

I also don't think that Katee is a particularly strong actress.

I don't think she's a Mary Sue. I just find her bullshit unacceptable.

I don't hate her but I'm not a huge fan either. The style of badassery that the writers wrote for her character doesn't appeal that much to me, I guess. Especially in the first couple of seasons where she didn't seem to have much self-awareness of her own privileged ranking in the fleet and sort-of looked down on those who didn't just rebel against situations they were unhappy about the way she would. Like, I can see why people do like that, but it felt self-centred to me. And that the writers didn't really see this as a side-effect of the type of kickass behaviour they wanted her to exhibit was slightly exasperating every time they did a "cue swelling music - ISN'T STARBUCK AWESOME? But frail. And complex. Deep thoughts now" sequence.
