Ditto. Just because it's not a traditional friendship doesn't mean its sexual tension or whatever fandom sees it as...

The two of them could never have a "traditional" friendship because of what their personalities are like, but that doesn't mean that their friendship could ever develop into something else. I do believe that there are many people, in any fandom, who'll ship male characters together just for the sake of shipping, or they think it's hot~ instead of they believe there could be a basis for something.

But House/Wilson is, uh, really not one of those "just because it's hot" ships. It's the most important relationship on the show, for pete's sake - that's not a ship based on nothing. (House/Chase, now - THAT'S pretty much just for the hot.)

You're perfectly welcome to read them as platonic (god knows they're going to stay that way, canonically); but if you really can't see where some people might ship them, well. I don't think that's because the slashers are seeing things. (We're not. The writers have admitted the subtext is intentional, even if it isn't going anywhere.) I would think it's because your interpretation of the canon is too rigid to allow for other ways of reading it.

Uhhhh where did I say I thought House/Wilson was one of those "just because it's hot" ships? I'm pretty sure that statement was preceded by the words "any fandom" meaning I could have been referring to any number of pairings but I don't know, I can't be sure of what I wrote. gj on missing that.

You're also wrong in believing my interpretation of the canon is too rigid~ for me to believe they'd fuck. It isn't. I see all of that subtext but I take it at face value because I know nothing will ever happen. I don't have to ship any of the characters to deepen my enjoyment of the show, I just enjoy it for what it is.

Why yes! Assuming that, in the context of a discussion about a particular pairing, your general statement was meant to be applicable to said pairing was SO silly of me. Particularly given the lack of even so much as a paragraph break to indicate a change in topic.

If you don't believe House/Wilson falls into the category you described, then the second sentence in your above comment is what is called a non sequitur.

Clarity is the basis of good communication. You might want to work on that.

W-wait. Your whole argument is based on the fact that I didn't press a button on my keyboard twice?

I don't think it's so hard to recognise the differences between the two sentences in my first comment, but what do I know - it made perfect sense to me despite it being one paragraph instead of two.

You can go on thinking I have bad grammar or bad typing skills, idrc. I lost interest in this conversation.

Neither does this slash fan who wants to so, so bad.

all the scotch in the world couldn't make them have sex.

Aw, I feel bad for you that you can't see it happening in your head. I can. No scotch needed, and it's awesome!

Whether it happens in canon or not is totally irrelevant. To me.

wat

Why would you feel bad for me because I don't waste my time daydreaming about a pairing I don't believe in?

deelaundry November 3 2008, 22:05:39 UTC
You didn't say you didn't like it or didn't believe in it; you said you couldn't see it. And that's why I feel bad for you.

What the fuck, that is just insulting. Also stupid, hilarious and pointless, but mostly insulting.
