I'M SO GLAD YOU HAD A GOOD TIME. :D I was watching the match on Chelsea TV and was mildly raging at the shoddy camera work, but I'm glad it was fun live!
And, also, it's interesting how you said that everyone was singing more down by the pitch - it's the exact opposite at Stamford Bridge. People with seats further up and away from the pitch are a lot rowdier.
Also, SUPER JEALOUS ABOUT THE TROPHIES. They had the FA Cup when I visited Stamford Bridge in May, but they didn't have the Champions League one yet and I was super upset. (I also have a cheesy photo next to the FA Cup, though, haha, so yay for that!)
From what I can tell, the areas closer to the pitch were the ones reserved to those who owned Chelsea fan membership (through New York Blues/Chelsea in America). I'm not a member of those just yet, so I just ordered directly and asked to be put in a Chelsea fan supporter section - so I was with other Blues, but probably not as "hardcore" as the guys who are part of the organization.
still UGH MY FEELINGS WHAT AN AMAZING DAY AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :D
Ah, that's to be expected, I guess. I know someone else who had pitch-side seats yesterday but even he commented that the atmosphere left something to be desired. Perhaps it's just one of the quirks about exhibition friendlies? idk
Man, this post reminds me that I still have to post my feels about attending the parade after we won the Champions League. ISN'T IT WONDERFUL THOUGH!? YOU'LL BE ON A HIGH FOR LIKE THREE DAYS. :DDDD
omg i was there too!!! :) i was on the first floor and the fans were insane -- especially the few psg fans :) i have some pics but they're mildly awful -- if for some reason you'd like to see them ,though, let me know :))))
yay i just saw this! yeah legends was an absolute madhouse before the match so i'm not surprised we didn't find each other. are you in the city permanently now (i never check lj anymore, ack, sorry!!)? we can definitely meet up at some point, i did buy a CIA scarf for you if you still want it, i wore it to the game though so it's been flung around a bit in celebration of piazon's goal ;)
Yes, yes I am! I'm living in Queens and working on the Upper West Side, so just let me know when you're free and we can meet up.
I might grab that scarf from you, haha. I picked up the ones they were selling in stadium (crest and checkerboard pattern on one side, Chelsea FC on the other, gold trim and tassles) but I'd be happy to also snag a CIA one despite not being a member yet oops
awesome! we live in west harlem on the other side of morningside park. i'll definitely bring the scarf when we meet up then! the cia scarves are cool, i also liked the ny blues ones. we will have to watch matches at the pub together this season!
