Ok so I read over on the feedback post at lastficstanding that somebody commented that this fic felt too detached that it needed to be deeper and more detailed, but I honestly believe that it shouldn't be. Seriously if you've just been shot by some random maniac doctor would you honestly be contemplating the meaning of life? No, you'd be doing exactly what you've got Owen doing here. Wondering what the hell has just happened and focusing the why and then and what's going on around you, what you can see, what you can feel.

Which is why I love all the small little details you've got in this fic, describing, like I've already mentioned, what Owen can hear (the sound of Jack's voice), what he can feel (Tosh's knee in his side), the moment he realises that somebody is actually trying to help him medically. It's all got a real detached sense to it, and is perfect for his character and the sudden abruptness of the situation...we never saw the shooting coming, so Owen had got friggin no clue and you display this perfectly.

I also really love the way you talk about other moments in his life where he's felt as though it could have been The End, being attacked by a Weevil, Ianto shooting him, and yet he knows that this is different, that this is very likely the actual End.

I also mostly love the last two lines. They perfectly capture Owens characteristics, the way he knows he's been an asshole through a large part of his life and yet still shows that it really is all just a front, that this bad boy attitude isn't really what he's like and that he just wants to do some good. That he just wants to be a hero and hopes that the others will remember him for that, rather than some of the hurtful things he's probably said to them all throughout the years.
