Luke and Z between them had...practically no belongings.

But they did have Artoo, and he'd been cleaning like a droid-y fiend.

And he had a taser. He poised by the door as the inhabitants perched on their respective beds and prepared to convince naysayers of the perfection of this dorm room.

Z was in her best uniform, trying to look like a model of studiousness as she flipped through the SPD handbook for the fifty-leventh time.

Kirk peered into one of the crew cabins on the third floor rooms, and gave it a good look over.

"This room seems ... rather sparse, don't you think?"

Z shrugged. "Neither of us has a lot of stuff, sir."

"Nothing?" he asked in surprise. "No ... conquests or souvenirs from past adventures? Nothing?"

He looked over Z, his eyes straying maybe just a little too long.. "I'm ... not familiar with that uniform style. Are you Starfleet Academy?"

Z felt a little oogy with the old man eyeing her like that, but whatever. He could look as long as he didn't touch. "No, sir, I'm a Space Patrol Delta cadet. And, um, we have Artoo?" She gestured to the robot. "I guess he counts."

"I'm not ... familiar with the group," Kirk said, before noticing Artoo. He broke out into a grin. "Oh, you have a robot. What does he do?" he asked being from a scifi universe without droids.

"...stuff," Z said, glancing over at Luke 'cause it was his droid.

"He does a variety of things, sir," Luke piped in. "Primarily, he assists with flying my starfighter."

"Really," Kirk said, interestedly looking over Artoo. "And how does he do that? He seems a bit ... short to be manning conn panels on the bridge of a starship."

Artoo blatted out something rude.

Luke shot him a look. "It's a individually-manned ship, sir," he said. "Not one of the battle cruisers. Artoo talks to the guidance systems and shielding and comms and keeps me in one piece."

He gave Artoo a fond smile. "He's pretty handy groundside, too, though. There isn't a lock that's been built that Artoo can't break."

Kirk being from a universe where the closest thing to a driod was a man named Data thankfully had no idea what Artoo was saying.

"I see. We don't have a ... lot of smaller ships where I come from. It's a good thing you have such a handy robot." He looked back up from Artoo to Luke. "Does the ... School Administration let you keep him in the dorms?"

Luke felt like he should be taking...unnatural pauses in his sentences as well.

He fought the urge to do so.

"It's better when he's here than when he's out," Luke admitted. "Artoo...can be a bit of a handful."

Artoo tootled proudly.

Rikku's half of the room was as tidy as she could make it on short notice. There were gadgets and thick engineering texts scattered around, some jammed into half-closed drawers, others stacked precariously on her desk. What few personal possessions she had, had a tendency towards bright orange.

"We-e-e-ll doggies, looks like the sun done exploded in your room!" Jed quipped from the doorway.

"Ya got any shotguns hidin' about in here?" Didn't seem right, goin' through a girls belongin's, so he just stood still and shoved his hands in his pockets.
