The Roof, Saturday afternoon

Walter had a thermos of tea, a bag of sandwiches, and a cigarette. Thanks to his semi-insane metabolism, he hadn't even had a brushing acquaintance with a hangovr; he couldn't complain at all. Eventually, he'd see Cally, if she remembered the night before. Then there would be jumping off the roof

"You really gonna jump?" Cally said, finally having surfaced from her room after finally ridding herself of a minor hangover.

[walter_n_wires]

Walter rolled his eyes at her. "Of course I am. I'm offended that you think I"m all talk."

[sogothcally]

"I'm offended you think that I think you're all talk," Cally said. "What do you think about that?"

[walter_n_wires]

"I think you're attempting to use female wiles to confuse me and it just won't work," Walter said with a decisive nod of his head.

[sogothcally]

"...this has nothing to do with my boobs," Cally said.

[walter_n_wires]

I've seen them.

"See. You're doing it again."

[sogothcally]

"Doing what?" Cally asked.

[walter_n_wires]

"Feminine wiles. Attempting to divert things to discussion of your... assets."

[sogothcally]

"Why would I want to discuss my assets? I thought this was about you jumping off the roof! Why would they cause you to do that?!"

[walter_n_wires]

Walter had to remind himself that Cally had more than once demonstrated that she wasn't the brightest bulb in the box.

He ground out his cigarette, stood up, brushed off his trousers, and jumped off the edge of the roof.

Cally eeped, then headed over to the ledge to see whether he was okay, or a giant Walter-pizza splat.

Walter was drifting down with the peculiar jerky changes of direction one might see in a floating dandelion seed. He caught sight of Cally and yelled up, "See!"

Upon close attention,the flashes of wire Walter threw out to catch projections on the building would be visible.

"Whoa," Cally said. "That's pretty cool."

[walter_n_wires]

Walter dropped lightly to the ground and took an exaggerated sweeping bow for Cally.

Doubt him, would she?

Then he started back up the building, scaling its face with the help of carefully thrown wires.

"Wow," Cally said. "That's... way too handy."

[walter_n_wires]

Walter pushed himself up over the roof's edge and grinned at Cally before pulling out a cigarette and lighting up. "And I can do it with other people, too. You want to try?"

He didn't really expect Cally to take him up on it, but who could say?
