The Roof (Again), Saturday Evening

Nov 04, 2006 18:35

He wasn't sure how many details of his adventure the previous night had already gotten around, and the power issues were probably helping that, but either way Anders had decided that laying low would be a good idea for a while. Especially since he figured Parker and Zero, if not the rest of the band, were going to kill him for his . . . ( Read more... )

Bel headed up to the roof for a cigarette of his own. He did this all the time, so it certainly wasn't out of any urge to possibly witness any particular conversation currently going on or the after effects there of. Really.

Parker turned around. And in her present state of mind, snarled.

Bel blinked. "What's your problem?" he said.

"MEN." Parker took a breath, paused, and then pointed at Anders. "Him! And you!" She pointed at him, then at the cigarettes. "Those! The universe!"

"What'd I do?" Bel said. "Pissy that I left you to spend the night in jail? Did the prison matron try to make you her bitch or something?"

Parker actually stomped over, staring at the cigarettes, then Bel, then leaned forward to hiss, "Newsflash. I am already THE bitch. And no one makes me do anything."

Then she made a swipe at his cigarettes.

"No! I quit! Oh, forget it! It's not like you can die." Parker folded her arms sullenly, and glared at him. "Go ahead. Suck it down. It's not like it's my job to save anyone. And you don't need it, right?" She spun on her heel and startd t stomp back to Anders.

"I can die!" Bel snapped. "Just not by these." He sucked down an angry lungful of smoke then blew it out. "You can't save me anyway. You want to save someone, try Anders. He's the one with the virgin lungs."

Parker turned around, and gave Bel a confused look that segued int a glare. "Tell me you didn't dare him to smoke. Or give him cigarettes. Or encourage him. Please."

Bel shrugged, unconcerned. "Hey, he asked."

Parker stalked over and socked him in the arm, even harder than she'd socked Anders. "Dumbass!" Then she pulled back to sock him again. "We can get sick and die like that not that you'd care so just take your damn cigarettes and jump off the roof why don't you--"

Yeah, she's not gonna stop on her own.

"Knock it off!" Bel snarled. He dropped his cigarette and tried to catch Parker's hand before she pounded on him some more. "I got enough things to worry about without your bitchfit."

Not having any particular desire to see either of them kill the other, Anders jumped in and tried to get in between Bel and Parker. "Okay, can we not end the night with people trying to tear each other apart here?" he asked, sharply. "It's not Bel's fault I kept smoking, and Parker's got a reason to be pissed at me, so no killing each other, all right?"

Parker got jolted out of her rage for a second by Bel's words, remembering that there was a hit out on him. Then she had a second jolt when Daisy was the one talking sense, and stepping between her and Bel. Brave, if not smart.

She stumbled back a little, and palmed her face, looking away. It took her a good ten seconds to get her breathing under control. "Right." She folded her arms, and clenched her jaw. "You're right."

Probably looking like it killed her, she muttered, "Sorry. Bel. I just--" She hugged herself, and shook her head, eyes closing. "Sorry."

Bel pulled out another cigarette and light it up with a small fireball, taking a moment to inhale the smoke. "Yeah, sure," he said neutrally. "You're just protecting 'Daisy' here from the big bad demon, right? He needs someone to watch his ass." He smirked a little.
