5th Floor Common Room, Afternoon

Sep 01, 2006 14:12

Lyra walked into the fifth floor common room, chatting over her shoulder to Blair. She moved tot he kitchenette, and rummaged around in the fridge until she found the eggs, butter and a frying pan. What that was doing in the fridge, she had no idea. She shrugged, marking it off mentally as another weird quirk of this increasingly weird place ( Read more... )

Dean had decided to track down his little sister Layla and see how her first week at Fandom was going so he headed up to the fifth floor, ducking his head into the common room first to see who was in there.

Two seconds later, Buffy wandered in, looking for food, fun and friends. She waved to Berthold and River, then beamed. "Hi Deeeeeean-y!"

Dean turned at the familiar voice. "Buffy!" he greeted her with a grin and a hug, ignoring the very annoying nick name. "When did you get back?"

"Early this morning!" Buffy glomped him back. "How are you doing? How's Sam? I have prezzies! Somewhere in my bags, I don't remember where, but they're totally there!"

Dean chuckled at her enthusiastic rapidfire questions. "I'm great, Sammy's great -- he'll be happy to see you, I'm sure. How about you? Have a good vacation with your dad?"

"I did! I got lots of new shoes, because dad's secretary hussy was there too and he was feeling guilty. As he should," she added after a moment pause.

"Anyway, enough about me! What's happened here? How're you and Dawn?"

"Lesee, well the island was attacked by some creatures who stole everyone's voices and wanted to cut out people's hearts, there was a Seahorse party which was memorable to say the least, there was a weekend where a lot of people thought they were someone else - including me and Sammy, Dawn broke up with me, Alec and I got drunk enough that signing up to be models in a fashion show sounded like a good idea -- two words ballet tights -- I got disappeared into a pocket dimension but Sammy, Alec and Dawn got me back, there was a field trip to Coruscant, someone switched the pills Alec was taking and he ended up in the clinic OD'ed on Valium, but he's fine now, lots of new students, including one who looks just like Sammy and is named Dean -- poor kid's forever having to explain he's not a Winchester, and my Dad's in town and is going to be teaching Hunting this semester." Dean grinned.

It took her a couple of seconds to process this, then she patted him on the shoulder. Gently, because she wasn't trying to smoosh him. "I'm sorry Dawn broke up with you. Did you kick the weird creatures' asses? Um. Ballet tights, are there photos?"

She grinned, and continued ticking off questions. "What's a SammyDean? And oooh, I signed up for Hunting! By post. I don't know how post gets here from, like, the past, but apparently it does."

"Thanks," Dean said with a soft smile. "It's okay, Dawn and I are still friends. We, as in the usual student suspects did not kick weird creatures' asses, we were confined to the school, but their asses were kicked by some of the people in town. Thoroughly. Yeah, ballet tights. Judging by how many flashes I saw, I'm sure there are pictures. Of Alec too -- he was a smurf. SammyDean -- he's named Dean, he looks like Sammy and is actually another version of Rorys ex-boyfriend to add one more level of confusion." He grinned at her. "You signed up for hunting? I've seen you fight, you'll probably do really good in it."

"Is good you're friends," Buffy decided. She narrowed her eyes. "Although if Dawn has different story, I'll have to kick your ass. It's a sort-of-sister thing."

She made a mental note to find Jaye and get photos. Her BFF would have them, right?

"Oh, so it's like you and Alec but with name confusion? You know, I was thinking about that while I was on holiday, and I met these twins and they had, like, t-shirts with names on them. I think we should do that here."

"You want Alec and me to wear tshirts with our names on them," Dean repeated slowly.

"Exactly! I mean, I can tell the difference but there could be people who can't and I bet they're really confused." Buffy nodded seriously.

"I'm not sure it would help -- even when we're wearing nametags, I get called 'Alec' sometimes. Besides, Alec's not really known for keeping his shirt on."

"Or we can just correct people when they get it wrong until they get it right," Dean counter suggested, which wasn't sounding nearly as annoying as he once thought in the face of the alternatives Buffy was offering.

"Well, if you want to be boring about it, sure." Buffy grinned.
