Salle [after workshops]

Anakin needed to let off some steam, so he snagged the remotes and his wipeboard from his room and headed down to the salle.

Pulling both lightsabers from the weapons lock-up, he scrawled Live Fire Workout in Progress. KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING. on the board, stuck it to the door and closed it behind him.

Then took off his outer robe overdramatically ( Read more... )

Peter headed down to the salle after 'freeing' Willow from Xander's evil twin. Seeing the white board on the door, he knocked carefully, glad to run into Anakin again before the other boy left.

After Rory had left Anakin had gone back to working with the remotes. He turned them off again. "Come in!" he called.

Peter pushed the door open slowly. "Good evening, Anakin. Am I interrupting too much?"

Anakin smiled. "Not at all. Just trying to work through some things." He bit his lip. "Don't want to be too behind the curve when I get home, either."

"That's understandable," Peter said. "Though you certainly didn't look out of practice with I was able to watch you spar a month or so ago. When are you leaving?"

"A week from today," Anakin said quietly, looking at the floor. He shook his head sharply. "But that's a whole seven days away. Concentrate on now, right?" He smiled. "How's your own sword work coming? I don't think I've gotten a chance to see you really cut loose."

"Seven days can be a long time," Peter agreed. "It comes along. I keep worrying that I'm backsliding though as there's no one I can work with. Lots of people learning swordwork though which makes me happy. I need to get to know Alanna, I think."

Anakin nodded. "That's why I brought the remotes back," he said. "No one to spar with directly." He smiled. "Alanna's good. So's Hamlet. He started the Fencing Club last year."

"There was a Fencing Club?" Peter asked. He grinned. "I'm learning something new every day. I suppose I thought there wasn't because there wasn't a live steel area." He nodded. "Setsuna's very good too, but our styles are so very different, sparring is less than productive."

"From what I remember, Hamlet and Alanna had pretty similar styles," Anakin replied. He grinned. "Neither of which I was particular used to, of course."

"Strange that," Peter said. "Can't imagine a reason why your weapons styles are different." He smiled mischieviously. "Alanna has a - I don't know what she calls it - but in Earth terms, it'd be a Western style like mine. Mine rather a mishmash of things that work. I was taught by centaurs - creatures that are half-human and half-horse - so I got to learn how to adapt to human requirements quickly enough."

"I've combined a couple of different styles myself," Anakin said. "It drives the lightsaber instructors insane." He grinned. "Especially when I beat them."

"I remember you showing me a bit of the different forms before," Peter said. "It's not the done thing to combine them then? Even if it is effective for you? That seems a bit staid."

"You can do it," Anakin said, nodding. "But most Jedi stick to one or another, or switching entirely from one form to another in the middle of a fight. I'm a little more...freeform." He shrugged. "Probably because I didn't spend ten years learning Form I. I got a bit of a crash course."

"I most definitely know how that is," Peter replied, pulling a slight face. "I got handed a sword - my sword - as a gift one day and was fighting with it three days later. Nothing like a trial of fire."

Anakin looked sympathetic. "It wasn't quite that bad for me. I just kind of skipped youngling training entirely. Went straight to being a Padawan and had to learn everything they'd known from the beginning in a few months." He shrugged. "Which is why I want to be on form now. I hate feeling like I'm behind again."
