Second floor common room [Evening]

Aug 19, 2006 17:21

Anakin had spent most of the day brooding meditating and replaying the trip to Coruscant in his mind.

The thoughts it had led to had been entirely too depressing.

That's why he had migrated up to the second floor common room and commandeered the television set.

Not that the last Space Battles prequel was any less depressing, but he could keep ( Read more... )

In a completely unsurprising move, Hamlet wandered down to the second floor common room. Except this time, he may have brought a bag of chips with him, as though expecting to find someone watching TV.

"Space Battles? I don't believe I've seen this one yet. Did the dialogue get any better than in the previous films?"

"No," Anakin said. "I kinda want to throw things at the Dark Helmet guy, too. I mean, who turns evil because someone's going to hurt your puppy? That's totally stupid."

Hamlet shook his head and tsk-tsked the screen. "That's a rather shallow reason for one to turn evil on. Couldn't Lucas George devise any better reason than that?"

"He wrote the dialogue with what's-his-face and that girl that actually included 'I love you like I'm blind,'" Anakin said, rolling his eyes. "I'm sure he thought the snake was a stroke of genius."

"Oh, that's right, isn't it? I'd forgotten about much of the romancing scene from the previous film. Most that that was painful to listen to."

He grabbed some chips, and offered the bag to Anakin. "I wonder if there's a certain notion in Hollywood that if you put a snake in a movie, people will flock to theatres to see it."

"There are dumber theories," Anakin said, taking a handful. "I mean, who doesn't love a good snake movie?"

"Snakes are alright, but I wouldn't go see a movie simply about them. There would need to be something else equally interesting along with the snakes to truly make it worthwhile"

"Like explosions or nudity or something," Anakin agreed. "Maybe both."

"Both would be fine, but presumably not at the same time, he said. "Exploding nudes tends to be more disconcerting than entertaining."

Anakin laughed. "Good point."

"Now, if the snakes were to explode, on the other hand..."

"...that I would pay good credits to watch. Maybe shot out into space?"

"Now there's an interesting idea. Perhaps they could board a spacecraft, which would require them being shot out into space in order to save the passengers."

"Snakes on a shuttlecraft?" Anakin snickered. "Someone did that to one of the Jedi Master's transports. He didn't take it well."

Hamlet snickered at the very idea. "Oh? And how did he react at discovering snakes on his shuttlecraft?"

"I've only heard this from others, mind," Anakin said, "but apparently he demanded to know who put, quote, 'these motherfucking snakes on my motherfucking shuttlecraft.'" He grinned. "I was very, very glad to be in a different galaxy."
