The Roof, after sunset

Parker's trying to photograph the stars against the trees, and reflected in the water, for Photography class. It's not going as well as she'd hoped.

She is very interruptable.

It's not like the roof is a usual hangout for Bridge. So why is he up here? No real reason.

"Hey," he says, as he walks over to Parker. "Haven't talk to you since the... stuff, this past weekend."

"No, we haven't." Parker fiddled with the camera lens a moment, then blurted out, "I owe you. So much. I don't...." She shook her head. "I don't know what to say."

[bridge_carson]

Bridge just smiles a little, and shrugs. "I'm just glad I could help a friend," he says honestly.

[mparkerceo]

"I know. But you gave me an explanation for something I'd been wondering about *forever*. About Angelo and his empathy, and why he's non-verbal and odd, and ....." She looked up, finally. "And then there's the other thing."

[bridge_carson]

"About that," Bridge says, and winces. "I'm sorry I was so blunt, just dropping it on you like that."

[mparkerceo]

"No, I-- how else could you break it to me?" She rubbed her eyes. "I mean, I was freaking out about him, it's not like there was a time when I was going to be calmer before he was found." Parker looked up. "He's okay, by the way. I got an e-mail from him from home. He had fun here, I think."

[bridge_carson]

"Good," Bridge smiles. "I'm glad he had a chance to have fun- even if he was driving you crazy in the process."

[mparkerceo]

"God, yes. Typical of him. Back in Blue Cove, he wasn't my responsibility. I *almost* feel sympathy for those watching out for him now." She grinned, then sobered a bit. "How sure are you, about the twin thing? Pretty sure? Ninety percent, fifty percent...?"

[bridge_carson]

"Really, really sure," Bridge says. "It's- I don't know if I can explain it? But something in your aura, and his. They- match."

[mparkerceo]

Which made her happy and made her hurt in equal measure. "Yay. At least I probably don't need to get a blood test, then. Since I'm not going to tell my dad." She looked away. "Do you know-- is there any way to make it better, for someone like him? Whose empathy is so intense? Anyway to turn it off, turn it down, make it easier on him?"

Bridge frowns thoughtfully. "If you could figure out how he focuses it, maybe?" He glances down at his hands. "My parents say I used to freak out when people touched me, when I was real little. I don't really remember that far back."

[mparkerceo]

Parker was quiet, thinking. "Most of it seemed to happen when he was touching other people's things. Although I think maybe reading does it too." She frowned. "I may have to build him a spacesuit, or get someone else to do it." She smiled. "Thanks, though. Maybe it'll help a little."

[bridge_carson]

"No problem," Bridge smiles back. "I know what it's like, sort of, so I'm glad I can help."

"Hey Bridge," Jamie said with a wave as he started setting up his climbing equipment. "How's it going?"

[bridge_carson]

"Hey, Jamie," Bridge says. "Not too bad. Well, other than the fact that I woke up on someone else's floor this morning. You?"

"Woke up on the same floor I started off on so I guess that's good," Jamie said looking puzzled. "Was being on someone else's floor bad?"
