Jul 13, 2006 12:45

Having survived yesterday's workshops, Cameron was up and about, giving the punching bag a nice workout.

Kawalsky was up early and off to the gym. He started with a basic warm-up, did some pull-ups, push-ups and sit-ups and then headed to the weights.

Cameron took a break in his own drills and locked the weights. "Morning, man," he greeted as he grabbed his bottle of water.

"Hey," Kawalsky said back. "Y'know, we live together but we keep missing each other. Weird, huh? It's not like we're in different time zones."

"Yeah, I know. Busy lives and all that," Cameron shook his head and grinned. "Good thing we'll always have the gym. How's it going?"

"Not bad, not bad. Got a workshop soon. Wanted to get in a workout first. Alanna's back. She got turned into a statue. I haven't been doing much. Been checking out some running tracks. You?"

"Statue? That's a new one," Cameron shook his head and took a long swig before replying. "I've been keeping my head down really. Just working out, teaching Veronica how to kick. Decided to embrace the single life once and for all. You know."

"Single?" Kawalsky didn't stop with the weights. "Not that it's all bad. Worked for me for a long time. No complaints here, man. How long ago?"

"A week and a half or something? It was shortly after the whole jello dragon thing," Cameron replied.

"Huh," Kawalsky grunted. "You two okay or should I avoid her for a while?"

"Nah, it's fine. We're gonna just be friends. And even if it wasn't, you don't need to avoid people on my account," Cameron assured him.

"The avoiding's for me. It's more polite than blocking my ears and saying 'lalala' when she talks if something big happened so I didn't get involved. But if you're good, then good. Hey, me and Sam were thinking about setting up an obstacle course. You wanna try it out if we get it going?"

"Like climbing over walls?" Cameron asked, grateful for the change of subject. "Sure, man. I should be hearing from the Academy next month or so to see if I need to start really practising for the physical exams."

"Obstacle courses will be good for that. You'll be sick of 'em by the time you get outta there." Kawalsky didn't mention the additional flying (but harmless) projectiles that they were planning on adding. He'd find out eventually. "If you want to try some endurance stuff, lemme know. I used to run some of those kids ragged," he chuckled at the memory. "You know you've got a good drill sergeant if they push you too hard."

"I'm up for it," Cameron tilted his head. "You were a drill sergeant?"

kawalsky July 13 2006, 13:25:22 UTC
"Minus the sergeant part. I busted my knee on a training op and took drill duty for a while at the Academy. Good work."

"I'm sure the getting to shout at cadets helped," Cameron grinned.
