And it's 0-0. Portugal has a slightly higher possession percentage, but it's been an even game thus far.

Molly frowned. "Now I have to go to cheerleader practice. I wish they would have scored in the first half." She stood up with a sigh. "Bye, Peter. Thank you for breakfast. Go, England!"

"Bye Molly," Peter replied. "Cheer well! And if you hear cheering from here? England scored."

"Midfielder. Only one of the best women's soccer players in history," Conner explained. "Two-time Olympic gold medalist, and part of two Women's World Cup championship teams. When I left home she'd just recently retired, but she played on the US national team for, like, seventeen years. And now she's got a chain of soccer camps, so she's sort of one of my heroes."

"Don't worry about it. I thought the same thing a few years ago," Conner replied. "But yeah, they're really good. And then there was the '99 Women's World Cup, and Brandi Chastain taking her shirt off after they beat China, and . . ."

His eyes glazed over briefly before he shook himself. "Sorry. Anyway, yeah, they're good. There was a women's pro league for a few years here, too, but they just couldn't get the support to keep going."

"So they'd play next year then?" Peter said thoughtfully. "If their World Cup is the year after the mens? It would be interesting to watch, at least."

He grinned at Conner's reaction. "Sounds like they are very good."
